Stretch your arms and legs folks, we’ve got some quirky dance moves to crack out. Estonia’s 5Miinust x Puuluup will be bringing their wild anthem “(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi” to the London Eurovision Party!

Yes, the Estonian supergroup will don their shades and provide intense energy to proceedings on April 7th. It’s going to be amazing to see the rapper group and folk duo come together at Here at Outernet in the British capital.

Who are 5Miinust x Puuluup?

To delve into who this act is, we can split it into two halves. 5Miinust are a hip-hop 4-piece from Võsu on the north-Estonian coast. Puuluup are a duo who make modern folk music using traditional instruments, but bring the songs to today’s audience with a contemporary twist.

5Miinust are a big-deal in the Baltic nation, having won Artist of the Year at the Estonian Music Awards twice. They’ve also had six number one singles in their home country. In their Spotify bio, they simply state that “the mood is good, everything else can wait”. Fair enough, considering their music is nothing short of a party…often with a WTF twist.

Puuluup describe themselves as “A pinch of surrealism, modern folklore and talharpa revival!”. The talharpa is the string instrument we see in the performance, originating from northern Europe.

In their national final Eesti Laul, they won the Superfinal by getting over double the amount of votes as second-placer Ollie. They were by far the bookie’s favourites to go to Malmö. Unsurprisingly, given a huge fan reaction both in Estonia but also with Eurofans across the continent.

I reckon this is going to soak up a decisive amount of televotes in May. Perhaps not enough to win, but enough to stop other televote favourites from winning.

Most interested in seeing 5MXP / 5Miinust x Puuluup because of the juxtaposition of modern folk and rap music, plus the traditional talharpa instruments; very unique and original mix. The upbeat sing-along vibe and dance moves are added bonuses.

Gutted for no Joost, Nemo, Silia, or Teya Dora in London 🙁
Crowd would have loved and embraced all and sang along. Especially Joost and Teya. Maybe Nemo too.
