Aiko from Czechia is ready to put herself on a pedestal, and at the top in Eurovision 2024! The rock singer from Karlovy Vary is bringing her grungey self-love song “Pedestal” to Malmö for Eurovision 2024. She’s an indie darling, and we’d love to know more about her.

We had a chat with her, and she’s spilt the tea on all her favourite facts about herself. So, let’s get to know 10 Facts about Aiko from Czechia!

10 Facts about Aiko from Czechia

1. She is a polyglot

Aiko can speak four languages fluently! She is able to speak Czech (of course), English, German and Russian. She has grown up in various parts of Europe, and is based in Brighton, UK these days. Since Abba won Eurovision in Brighton 50 years ago this year, can Aiko take those victorious vibes to Malmö?

2. Her party trick involves a porpoise

Aiko told us that she is really good at making dolphin sounds…maybe an odd one but let’s face it, that actually probably took a lot of practice! Who knew she was even more vocally talented than we thought already eh?

3. She’s a pole-dancing queen

Aiko is a very talented pole dancer, and has been enjoying the sport for 5 years now. Known as one of the most athletic activities a person can do, it takes enourmous strength and skill to master it. It’s so impressive Aiko can do this, will we see her try this in her staging?

4. Aiko is a dog lover

She has 2 french bulldogs called Charles and Gracie, and says she adores dogs!

5. Don’t give her meat and hold the chilli

Aiko is a vegetarian and has been for 11 years now. She also says she is an incredibly picky eater and can’t eat anything remotely spicy. When Aiko makes a coffee, she is prone to putting FIVE sugars in it! This explains all the energy and power in her performances then!

6. She is Fortune’s Child

Aiko has three albums out already, with her most recent being 2023’s “Fortune’s Child”. This latest piece of work includes her Eurovision entry “Pedestal”, and is a collection of singles from the past 3 years. It opens with the punchy notes from “Opposites Don’t Attract”, and also includes “Instincts” and “Daughter of the Sun”. The whole album showcases Aiko’s wide range of vocals, and incredible rocky artistry. “Daughter of the Sun” in particular has done well on Spotify streams, and sounds like it belongs on a huge movie soundtrack.

7. She’s a child of Europe, through and through

Aiko’s family moved to Czechia when she was 5 years old, and took the time to do a European road trip at the time. She now lives in the UK, but lived in the small Western-Czechia town of Karlovy Vary, near the German border for most of her childhood.

8. Get the girl a nightlight

Whilst many artists would say their biggest fears can be the nerves before performances, Aiko’s is more pedestrian. She has a huge fear of the dark – so no light shut-off moment like her fellow Czechs We Are Domi then! She also hates the sight of blood, though we’d like to think this wouldn’t affect staging anyway!!

9. Feeling spiritual

Aiko says that spirituality is a huge part of her life.

10. Her dream house is a….

Aiko says that if she becomes rich, she won’t blow it all on a huge mansion. She says “I have been obsessed with an idea that I’d buy an old church that I’d remake into a house”.

Come back for more exciting stories and facts about Aiko as pre-party season continues and we head towards Malmö 2024 itself!

Her song’s one of my faves this year and I really hope she can make it through to the final in May!

I really like the song’s energy and vibe. Unfortunately her live vocals haven’t been quite strong yet, I hope she could improve herself even more and we’d get a better performance in the semi and see her in the final.

I love Aiko’s song, one of my favourites from the start, especially the original version with the pithy lyrics. The eurovision friendly version is great too, and deserves a place in the final.

Fortune’s Child is a good record; I was hooked from the start of “Opposites Don’t Attract.” Qualification from this semi would be a surprise, but I’m pulling for it. It seems like she’s made the right moves since ESCZ.

Since’s she’s Russian and won ESCZ by a wide margin despite being far from the favorite, I can only imagine how and why she came to this competition and whose interest that is

Its A Bit Hipokritik For You To Say This Things Because Other Russian People Are Living Across Europe For Many Years And We Live In Every European Union Nation Weather You Want Us Too Or Not . We Are Also Musicial People And Cant Go On The Eurowision So What Choise Is There ?
Would You Say This Same Thing If Marija Sur The Ukrainian Was Representing Sweden Last Year Or This Year ? I Dont Think You Would So Stop With This Russophobia Statements Its Not A Good Look Foe You .
