This weekend sees the return of Festival da Canção for its 2025 edition. Over three weeks, Portugal is set to select its entry for Eurovision out of the 20 competing artists.

Ever since the songs were unveiled, we’ve been collecting your votes as you told us your favourites amongst the line-up.

A total of 3,198 votes were cast. And now it’s time to reveal the results…

Fernando Daniel is a favourite to win Festival da Canção 2025

The top spot in our poll is reserved for Fernando Daniel. The Voice Portugal alum earned a solid lead with his song “Medo,” receiving a third of all the votes — that’s 1,077 to be specific.

Fernando previously came fifth at Festival da Canção 2017 (won by eventual Eurovision champion Salvador Sobral). Could this be the year he finally takes the trophy himself?

A commendable second place is awarded to JOSH. The signer has captured the attention of many with his hauntingly beautiful ballad “Tristeza.” Even with the silver medal, JOSH still managed to secure over a fifth of the votes, picking up 715.

The other big favourite in this poll is Henka. The alternative musician certainly stands out in the competition thanks to her entry “I Wanna Destroy U.” There were 572 people who put their weight behind her, which equates to 17.89% of the vote.

Full results: Who should win Festival da Canção 2025?

Say what? Fernando will win? No way…Josh is BY FAR the best musical proposal. Fernando is just thing more of the same…same style, same pop, same everything. No evolution so, in my opinion, Josh or Henka will win. I just hope that Josh improves his staging cause it really needs to be reinvented.
With Fernando’s “Medo” (it means fear) I really fear that he won’t stand a chance to make it to the final at the ESC2025

I liked these songs but don’t offend me; they are a bit boring, can’t get the hype on “Tristeza” song.

Fernando is well known and popular.
His participation this year in FdC is for the win. If we want Josh to represent Portugal we must vote for him in the final, if not…

I’m a 100% team HENKA here. I’m worried for the live though. I hope she will deliver.

Just putting it out there that Henka’s I Wanna Destroy U is an exceptional alternative/rock track and would be a massive hit at Eurovision

I am not sure that I understand this comment? Why would Henka be refreshing after Bambie Thug’s track? Henka leans more to the melodic/metal side with Bambie leading more to the art/performance side, but I’m not sure why the melodic/metal side of rock would be refreshing after art/performance rock – please can you explain?

Portuguese here. I don’t think there’s any competition for JOSH at this point. “Tristeza” will win Festival da Canção.

We haven’t seen any performance yet. I think festival da canção has good songs this year and there’s competition, especially when they’re using that small stage.

‘Tristeza’ did something with me that I cannot explain. It gave me Salvador Sobral vibes, it’s a completely different song, but it hits you right in the feels. Portugal could win a second time with this song, it might be a song that Europe needs right now..

Completely agree with your take! I love Erika, but I’m loving Josh’s song more plus it feels more like an ‘appropriate’ winner imo
