Melodifestivalen 2017 doesn’t begin for another five months, but Swedish broadcaster SVT has revealed details of the dates and locations where the six Melfest shows will be held next year.
As usual, the grand final will be held at Friends Arena in Stockholm, the home of the Melfest final since 2012. This year’s finalen will be held on 11 March.
The competition is again kicking off on 4 February in Gothenburg, with the Scandinavium hosting the first semi-final for the third year in a now. One of our favourite places, Malmö, hosts the second semi-final on 11 February, with Malmö Arena again hosting the show.
Returning to the Mello tour is Växjö, where the Vida Arena will host the third semi-final on 11 February. The northern city of Skellefteå hosts the fourth semi-final at the Skellefteå Kraft Arena on 25 February. Skellefteå last hosted a Melodifestivalen show in 2013, and its arena is the smallest on the 2016 tour, with a capacity of just 6,000.
The Andra Chansen round will be held at Linköping, with the SAAB Arena giving contestants a second chance on 4 March.
Entries for Melodifestivalen 2017 are now open, and due to close on 19 September. Only one act is currently known – indie band Les Gordons, who were selected from the Svensktoppen nästa competition.
Tickets for the Melfest 2017 shows will go on sale on 31 October, while the acts for 2017 will be revealed later in November.

So put all the new fresh artist in the fourth semi final and the well known artists in the other 3? (Kinda like last years 3th semi, except Oscar Zia)
>Skellefteå
where?
A semifinal in Skellefta? Let’s hope for the indieband Wannadies to make a comeback for MF – in their own town. Would be a perfect dream scenario 🙂
One thinf only: that Skellefteå will be very problematic for William and Deban in videos
Why always Växjö? Why not Jönköping? That city has a greater population and better communications and transport.
And it’s my home-town and I could finally watch it live:)
