On September 1 he publicly revealed his battle with anxiety, saying social media had left him feeling like “a wasteland” inside. And on Friday Mikolas Josef returned to the spotlight after a nearly year-long hiatus to drop the infectious new single “Lalalalalalalalalala” (that’s la x 10 in case you’re counting).
Writing on Instagram ahead of the release, he thanked fans for their ongoing support over the past year — a period during which he dropped his record label and coped with anxiety en route to rebuilding himself.
“Tonight is not only about releasing a new single & merch,” he wrote. “Tonight I step over the shadows I believed will be the end of me. We all got our demons and reasons to feel beaten down and I sincerely pray everyone emerges victorious from their struggles. Today that is my only wish.”
“This one is for the fighters. Let the song be a reminder to everyone that when you take arms against the sea of troubles you already won.”

Mikolas Josef releases “Lalalalalalalalalala”
The Eurovision 2018 singer will eventually release four different versions of “Lalalalalalalalalala”, including an acoustic version. The various versions will drop once a week over the next month.
The music video will arrive on October 19th — so in ten days. Fans can also look forward to Mikolas’ entry landing on TikTok, as well as a short documentary about his comeback.
As you can see in the Prague street advertisement below, Mikolas is going all in for this release.
The red sign “STREAMUJ” splashed across the bloody cover encourages people to stream music. In a statement, Mikolas said that’s even more important during the pandemic.
“At a time when we need to adapt and stop performing live, it makes sense to open up the topic of illegal downloading of music, music videos but also movies and thus support the perception of art value. At a regular store I would also pay for whatever I am buying.”

He’s not (yet) back on ESC. He’s just releasing a new song. Benny Cristo will represent Czechia in 2021.
Alex meant that Mikolas is back from the hiatus he took because of his mental health.
