Eurovision 2024 songs chosen by 22 December
🇦🇱 Albania: Besa Kokëdhima – “Zemrën n’dorë”
The grand final of Festivali i Këngës 62 took place on December 22. Besa Kokëdhima didn’t win the festival — the jury chose Mal Retkoceri instead. But she topped the televote for the ticket to Eurovision with her ballad “Zemrën n’dorë”.
Ahead of the final, she told our reporter Erdi that she poured all of her heart into the song — despite initially not wanting to send a ballad.
🇨🇿 Czechia: Aiko with “Pedestal”
Bright-based artist Aiko topped the week-long vote of ESCZ 2024 with her song “Pedestal,” an anthem of empowerment and self-love. Speaking to our reporter Youyou after the show, she said she wrote the song when she was angry — and when stuck in a relationship with someone who wasn’t reciprocating her love.
According to the Czech delegation it “emphasizes the determination to prioritize independence. It highlights the importance of putting oneself first in the face of adversity and any toxic relationships.” Get it, girl!
🇫🇷 France: Slimane with “Mon amour”
When it comes to song reveal, France was the first country out of the gate. In November it revealed its song and artist on the same day. And what a reveal it was! Slimane is among his country’s top pop stars, having sold out massive arenas and racked up billions of streams.
On the day of the reveal he told me that love dictates all he does — and provided the material for his entry “Mon amour.”
“Yes, it’s true. Love is my biggest source of inspiration in music. It drives my life and all my choices. It’s love — love for my daughter, love for my family, love for my friends, love for music. It’s universal love and since I started writing songs, I think I needed to input all this love into my songs.”
So who did you vote for? And who needs a revamp? Let us know down below…
My personal (and I know, unpopular, opinion) — best song France has had in many years.
Czechia is so underrated!
France will score amazingly well with the juries!!! Just magical! LOVE!!!!
I’m definitely in the minority here, Czech all the way. France puts me to sleep ?
I dont like this kind of predictions at all! For example , we just have 4 released …what is the point of talking about favorite?? This is so boring! Over and over the same thing…. Lets just wait all song so we can tell something about. .
Right, I voted for France.
But Albania? Diaspora hjacked wiwi poll? 😀
I have faith veronika will spice things up, finally
It’s amazing.
she flawlessly delivered
Slimane is my current Number 1, I love the song, but I know he’s a placeholder and unmounting that spot the second Sanremo crowns a winner or Paskana is chosen, Heck, it could unmount today is Raiven delivers.
By the way, Raiven did deliver, and she’s number one now (probably until Sanremo and UMK happen)
FUN FACT: The song written by two Israeli/Jewish songwriters 🙂
An Arab guy, singing a song written by Jewish Israelis. It’s amazing! That’s how it should be!
And he wrote the song together with them so they are probably friends. Amazing!
I *refuse* to believe that the public chose “Zemrën n’dorë” over “Çmendur”.
Cmendur was ridiculously bad! Vocals were absolutely woeful! Most people are laughing at the idea of that one being the jury winner in Albania…only a corrupt jury would have put it number 1. LoL!
Well, I’m hoping to get a reason to start voting in this poll with Slovenia tonight.
