Eurovision 2012 winner Loreen has released a new video for her hit single “My Heart Is Refusing Me”. The simplistic yet eclectic ride keeps in tune with her previous releases: it thrills the soul of all that listen and watch.
New fans of Loreen may not remember that Loreen actually competed in Melodifestivalen 2011 with this song, qualified to the Andre Chansen round, but failed to reach the final. (That’s a travesty but I won’t talk about that here). Despite the setback, the song went on to be a summer favorite in Sweden, reaching number 9 on their music chart, and later won the SVT Tredje Chansen contest. After her euphoric Eurovision 2012 win, it was remixed and included in her album Heal. This remixed version is the one featured in the video.
The video’s plot is somewhat coherent, but I won’t give anything important away. I will say that we get to see some more of Loreen’s interesting “dancing” (Still better than Robin’s ghastly affair). Unfortunately her famous sidestep / crab walk doesn’t make an appearance. Loreen is flexible: I’d snap my spine attempting those moves!
The eclectic style of the video fits the music nicely with quick cuts of reverse video and swoosh pans, and the dark theme of Loreen’s videos remain. Often the people in the video are hidden by shadows. I particularly like the scene in the rave: it looks very life-like and with the electric sound of the song it syncs up amazingly! We also get to see Loreen smoking, something I hadn’t ever pictured. It’s a tad odd. All in all, I really enjoyed the video (as I do everything Loreen), and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!
What do you think of Loreen’s video? Is sticking to her successful “dark simplistic” formula working, or getting a little old? Leave a reply and let us know!

I don’t like the remixed version.
Just amazing…Well done, Loreen!
Gavin, even if Loreen’s “My Heart Is Refusing Me” ended up at the UK airwaves 2 years ago, it’ll just get ignored by the British public. Sorry, but anything associated with Eurovision is simply avoided like the plague in Blighty.
My fav Loreen song!
Why is Loreen releasing videos so long after songs reach popularity.
I love this song, it’s awesome, from the moment it was performed at melodifestivalen, it’s been playing in my world over and over.
I really think it should have hit UK airwaves a good two years ago, and certainly if not, considering its popularity came directly after Euphoria and the latest tweaks really work.
Loreen… Get your music out their! And produce more of the good stuff!
