Following the blast of sunshine that was Suzy Guerra in 2014, Portugal has annonced that it will return to Eurovision 2015. We’re roasting a crispy suckling pig and throwing a babecue to celebrate this one, y’all!

Portugal is known as the least successful country in Eurovision. They have participated 47 times and have failed to crack the Top 5. Maybe the 60th anniversary is finally their time? Although Suzy didn’t qualify for the final this year, she has given Portugal good reason to return. She came 11th in her semi—missing out by just one point. Even better, she finished sixth in the televoting, showing that there was a lot of good will for her and her upbeat number “Quero ser tua” (I wanna be yours). We love her so much.

Portugal joins Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and The United Kingdom in the long list of countries that have confirmed their participation in Austria thus far.

So what do you think? Should Portugal stage a national selection? Should it go for an internal selection? Let us know!

I couldn’t stand Suzy or her song but I’m happy Portugal’s remaining in the contest. Hopefully they can go back to their glory days of 2008 and 2009 and choose a song like one of those. “Senhora do mar (Negras ĂĄguas)” and “Todas as ruas do amor” were both amazing. However, I have a feeling 2015 will finally be Catarina’s year.

Can’t wait to see Portugal on the 2015 stage. I hope they’ll at least qualify (I’m sure they’ll choose a good song).
Fact is: For me ‘Quero Ser Tua’ was the best PERFORMANCE in that semi-final. Still love it.

So happy that Portugal is staying in the contest! I believe that Portugal is one of the most underrated countries in Eurovision. Their entry in 2008 should’ve won or at least been in the top 3. It was breathtaking. Also, their entry in 2009 was also fantastic and top10 worthy. Their entries in 2007 and 2010 were also decent. 2011 was a year to forget for Portugal and I found 2012 boring. This year’s entry was a breath of fresh air from so many ballads and that’s why they almost qualified. It is a fun entry but it is way… Read more »

@Darren: with a decent song, yes.

Although I’m really happy that Portugal will return again, I’m not that fond of their usual songs. I only really liked Portugal’s song in 2005, 2008 and 2009 in the past years. Catarina could’ve bring a change in that, but… Ah, well. I really hope Portugal will send a good song and will reach the top 5/10 😀

I’m so glad Portugal is staying, after their withdrawal in 2013 and their non-qualification in 2014 I thought Lisbon would be leaving again.
Every year, the Portuguese entries are always under-rated, they have often entered the contest with some decent songs, such as 2014, and have failed to qualify.
Portugal deserve a win at this stage.
