My Radiant You Supernova 2017 heat two

National finals are brutal — especially for acs that fall at the first hurdle. Twenty-two acts started in the running to become Latvia’s next Eurovision hopeful. Now, we have just eight semi-finalists left in Supernova 2017, after tonight’s second heat sent four more acts through. Last year’s finalists My Radiant You were declared the winners of the heat, winning both the jury and televoting.

In the semi-finals they’ll join tonight’s other qualifiers:  Triana Park, who brought a neon-filled party to the stage, and Santa Danelevica and The Ludvig.

Ahead of tonight’s show, you voted Markus Riva as your favourite to qualify. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it through to the next round, going out at the earliest stage yet of Supernova — ouch! We’re confident the setback is only temporary — he has too many fans to fret!

As always, Riga Beaver was on hand to entertain us during the ad breaks. This week he told us how to rhyme berries in a poetry lesson. Not only that, he can make hand fans from paper! What a clever beaver.

Supernova 2017 — Second Heat Qualifiers

My Radiant You — “All I Know”

Triana Park — “Line”

The Ludvig — “I’m In Love With You”

Santa Danelevica — “Your Breath”

Supernova 2017 — Eliminated Acts

Supernova continues next week with the Semi Final. Tonight’s four qualifiers will be joined by the four acts who made it through last week: Franco Franco, Lauris Valters, Linda Leen and Miks Dukurs.

Are you happy with tonight’s qualifiers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!

I’m glad Santa qualified! I really like her song.
I’m not a fan of The Ludvig and Line, though line has an interesting presentation.
“All I know” is a good song, but sounds dated.

I’m still all for “Spiritual Priest” in the final!!

I really am very sorry that was Markus and Tom.
If the not display of results,
so there is a suspicion of unfairness …I don’t believe the jury

Just to clarify things – Radiant were 1st both in jury and televote, hence they were declared winners of the heat 2. The other 3 were announced in random order.

After seeing Triana Parks live performance they just have to win.. Markus Riva was shocking unfortunately.. he was my favorite before and Laura Lo had a boring staging.. such a shame but Triana Park could save Latvia.. its either that or My Radiant You.. definately not The Ludvig.

@rigged: Sounds like an error to me – Latvia has in past years announced public vote winners first.

@Polegend You still don’t understand that hitting lower notes is not the same as missing the original notes. Many singers do this and *should* do this *on purpose* if their voice is not in the condition it’s supposed to be that night (which is something that happens – ask any singer), or if the studio version has a melody that is generally not easy for them to hit (see the end of Amir’s song from 2016, or the end of “Popular” from 2011 for obvious examples).

Also for people randomly debating Eurovisionworld in their article said that MyradiantYou and Triana park were the jury qualifiers and the other two were televote qualifiers.

LMAO, PEOPLE! MARKUS ALSO CHEATED WITH SPOTIFY STREAMS. That is clear, as his streams stopped growing majorly after LSM announce that they have found out about that

What the hell, Latvia?! Where is Toms? He should have been the clear winner of the whole selection. Again, I don’t like any of the qualifiers. I think Latvia is back to the 2009-2014 results…

Wiwibloggs polls – Katrina Cirule and Markus Riva should win semis in a landslide.

Supernova voters – both out at first occasion.

Contrary to that, Santa Danelevica and Lauris had their songs at the bottom of poll voting.

If all NF contests were this unpredictable, I would be more on the edge of my seat way more often. For example, I hope a similar thing can happen in Malta two days from now and Maxine/Richard/Janice/Claudia can snatch a win from Brooke’s overrated song.

Not a case for plagiarism at all but the chorus of My Radiant You’s song is very similar to the first line of the chorus of Medicine by Sunset Sons.

I’m very proud of you, Latvia! Very pleased with your choices! Just tiny little note for the future: please spread out quality acts evenly throughout both semi-finals as I bet another four acts from today would’ve 100% qualified if only they were performing last Sunday. Otherwise I’m more then pleased. And Santa, Triana Park, ThenLudvig and MyRadiantU will probably be the ones in the final and the four last week will be eliminated next Sunday.

P.s. A very special thanks goes to #AdBreakBeaver Charming and entertaining as always.

So sad that The HiQ didn’t make it – I love this song!
Markus’ live was very bad, I get why he didn’t advance.
My Radiant You to Kiev! Their performance was fantastic. 🙂

@JL – The fact that they mentioned the passing means that they know it happened. They shouldn’t have praised him without mentioning the cheating. I forgot that they were not mentioning whether each song got chosen by the jury or public. If Ludvig was chosen by the public, this whole debacle can be avoided. I have a feeling he was chosen by the jury, however.

@bulgariastan no one has said that Ludvig was picked by the jurors to be honest. The host clearly stated that the winner of the selection was MyRadiantYou, rest were announced in random order. Same as last week. In my opinion Santa and Triana was saved by the jurors.

@bulgariastan, where are you getting this nonsense? The jury praised Ludvig for his vocals, unanimously, and his “cheating” was only mentioned in passing. Nothing has been proven.

@ riggedObjectivoEurovision – I like his song, the fact that it was rigged is irrelevant. Of course I’m an avid supporter of a 100% televote formula so I think it’d only be fair to send Mirela, but it went this way and you’ll have to accept it.

I didn’t think that there was any way for Santa to qualify, but i’m very glad. Happy for My Radiant You and Triana, but HIGHLY disappointed in the jury for picking Ludvig. His song is atrocious, and he cheated, and the jurors ripped him on it, and yet still picked him!

The only one who I didn’t think deserved to qualify was Triana Park, because of their repetitive chorus, even though I liked the visuals they had during their performance. I’m happy Markus (and his over-hyped song) was eliminated 😀 , his attitude after he left the stage all of a sudden, like Daniel mentioned, was terrible. The only thing that makes me sad is how Toms didn’t make it unfortunately, even though the song itself isn’t anything new to Eurovision. 🙁

Good job Latvia! They basically picked the songs I could see the most potential in.

Santa Denelevica’s voice was crazily good. Very out of this space.

The Ludvid was great as well. He is only 16 (as far as I understand), so great achievement.

Triana Park, on the other hand, took me woth their visuals. Catchy chorus as well.

@JL no point arguing with Polegend. Judging by their comments on every post they only really like songs in native languages and big inspirational power ballads a la Polina.

@ JL – are you tone deaf or something? Just compare the studio and live versions and you’ll hear he did not hit any of the higher notes in the live version. It’s time to learn it, love it, live it. Also, he’s 16? Lmao, that hairline is truly holding on for life already.

I voted for Santa, Triana Park, My Radiant You and HiQ
Would love to see HiQ instead of The Ludwig. And as far as I can understand this act made jury to split into two – for and against Russian language. But the question – why don’t you sing in your language can be reffered to every contestant.
So sorry that we haven’t yet overcome those Soviet time complexes…

@Polegend, the juries praised him for his exceptional vocals and talent (you need to check your hearing). Only one jury member mentioned his Spotify account, but no criticism were made. Did you even watch the show?

Alex

@Polegend – not hitting the same notes as in the studio version is different from being out of tune

Alex
Alex

The notion that The Ludvig was out of tune is nonsense.

I wanted Up to qualify, but wasn’t surprised she didn’t – performance was a bit awkward. Triana Park’s song is beyond repetitive and I’m surprised the televote went for it – I guess a loud enough crowd is a good boost. Markus Riva’s song was unremarkable and the only reason he finished on top of the Wiwi fan poll is that people knew who he was.

Honestly this semi wasn’t as good as I was hoping it’d be… :/

Polegend Godgarina
Polegend Godgarina

@ JL – just listen to the studio version and then the live one. The “high” notes aren’t there in the live version, and the rest was just off. Also, the juries criticized him and exposed him for the Spotify thing, and then he passed through jury vote… there’s something fishy, definitely.

My favorite was Toms, but it was very difficult for him to qualify in this brutal heat. At least 5 acts deserved to qualify (compared to the 1st heat where only one was good enough), and I’m happy with the qualify of the heat. Triana Park and Santa were great, The Ludvig gave life to his song, and My Radiant You was also cool. And I’m glad Markus Riva was left out. Wiwiblogs, he isn’t that great! And he’s a sore loser, he was shown on video leaving the stage as soon as the hosts said goodbye without hugging or… Read more »
