depi evratesil kamil sevak

It’s the week of Depi Evratesil! After yesterday’s release of the first five songs, Armenia’s 1TV have now dropped the next five for y’all to enjoy!

Today’s group of songs is filled with X Factor stars from both Armenia and Ukraine. It includes X Factor Ukraine winner, Sevak Khanagyan — and also Armenian drag queen, Kamil!

Alternativ — “Stare at Me”

Five piece rock group Alternativ are best known for competing in X Factor Armenia in 2017. The band made it to the live shows, ultimately finishing the competition in 10th place.

Their name comes from their early struggles in finding places to rehearse or pick up instruments. This meant they had to find “alternative” ways of doing this.

Angel — “Heartbeat”

Angel Barseghyan is another 2017 alumni of X Factor Armenia. She didn’t quite make it as far as Alternativ, however, only getting to the four-chair challenge round, where she was eliminated by mentor Erik Karapetyan.

Since her experience on the show, Angel has turned to YouTube. She’s achieved over 10,000 views on her cover of Artem Valter’s “Husher”.

Kamil — “Puerto Rico”

Bound to be one of the more controversial entries in Depit Evratesil 2018, drag queen & blogger Kamil has already warned competitors that she’s going to win. At the same time, she’s said that she’ll be happy if she loses, because “many people will likely be very happy” if she does.

Though her entry “Puerto Rico” is in Spanish, Kamil doesn’t speak the language herself. It doesn’t matter too much though, as she can “think in Spanish”. That’s good enough for us, y’all!

Sevak Khanagyan — “Qami”

Breaking away from X Factor Armenia and over to X Factor Ukraine. Sevak Khanagyan actually won the show’s 2016 edition, immediately launching him to stardom both in Ukraine and in his native Armenia.

Since his victory, Sevak has gone on to be a coach on the 2017 season of Voice of Armenia. He’s also performed sold out concerts in Yerevan; will Depi Evratesil launch his career even further?

Tyom — “Follow the Ocean”

The third — and most successful — of the three X Factor Armenia 2017 entries in this group, Tyom Hakobyan finished 5th overall in the competition. He ultimately finished as the best placed “Over 22” act in the contest.

Tyom’s talents include being a soloist with the Armenian Jazz Big Band. His entry, “Follow the Ocean” was composed and written by Gevorg Gevorgyan and Inna Mkrtchyan.

We now know half of the songs in this year’s Depi Evratesil! Which of today’s group is your favourite? Are they better than any of yesterday’s group? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments section below.

Sevak has the best song in the entire selection. And the guy can sing.

I kinda find lack of character in almost all songs here, but Qami has a very nice vibe. This is the only song I wanted to hear twice.

Kamil would be an excellent troll act. I miss troll acts on Eurovision.

I have the feeling that the songs are being revealed in some quality order. At least, these songs have a decent quality. Overall, they are better than the ones revealed yesterday, except for that drag act mess.

Actually, If you remove Kamil from Puerto Rico song, it sounds good!

Kamil is going to win regardless the song and performnce on stage. Her “backing vocalist” is Lilit Hovhannisyan – a huge star in Armenia.

Angel and Tamar are the entries which I love so much so far. Others are not bad… But please Armenia do NOT send Kamil, he is so 2000′

Something about “Puerto Rico” doesn’t sit right with me as the island is still reeling through a disaster and having its name used for what’s basically a comedic entry. I know nothing is being said directly about life in PR but ….. still.

I do like the beat.

Hopefully Armenia doesn’t send Kamil. Also, if Purrto Rican superstars like Ricky Martin, Daddy Yankee, or Luis Fonsi all heard this, they’ll be in a constant state of WTF.

QAMI and HEARTBEAT are the best songs here.

Kamil is the best one out of this group. Sevak’s song is good, but has no chances to stand out. Overall my favourite is Tamar. I am afraid it won’t get the ticket, as Kamil will take lots of votes and Hasmik will take advantage. Waiting for Hasmik’s song. Atm I am ready to vote for Tamar.

Angel and Sevak are easily the best ones from this group by a mile! Heartbeat is such an original and well made pop song, not to mention the reference to Rihanna’s Love On The Brain, with a nice staging this could be a total BOP in Lisbon! Qami is such a wonderful ballad, specially being entirely sung in Armenian that is a beautiful language too! These two, along with Tamar and Amaliya, are real contenders to represent Armenia in May, but in my opinion, all these songs should go cause they are awesome and better than MANY songs in another… Read more »

Qami is by far the best of this bunch. But I’m still not impressed. Let’s see the other half of contestants.

Kamil – Lol Puerto Rico is my guilty pleasure. It’s very Verka Serduchka like and you never know it could do well.

Sevak – it’s an average ballad. Definitely not the best song from the NF released so far.

Angel – it’s an okay song but not memorable at all. My top 5 so far:

1. Amalya 9/10
2. Tamar 9/10
3. Kamil 8/10
4. Sevak 7.5/10
5. Angel 7/10

Cant wait for Asmik’s song tomorrow. I have high hopes for it.

“Stare at me” is good, I like the medoly but I feel it’s a bit repetitive. “Heartbeat” has a potential, it’s modern, great voice and it builds up. However, I don’t really like the chorus. “Puerto Rico” for me is clearly a troll act. I have nothing against Kamil, but I don’t find anything interesting about this song. “Qami” is in Armenian I suppose which I appreciate. It’s a ballad well sang but it doesn’t stand out. I like it though. “Follow the ocean” is up-beat but repetitive. Among these songs I like “Heartbeat”, “Stare at me” and “Qami”. But… Read more »

Qami is the best so far overall and I love that it is in Armenian. Plus Sevak’s voice and that is top 10 material. Puerto Rico is the worst by far. If Kamil wins (which I doubt but still) then it’s a certain non-qualifier.

Kamilll you did it, it’s a great fun song.
Tamar and Kamil so far my favourites, Sevak really disappointed me, so high expectation from him and the result is just a generic and bland ballad, the only advantage is the language.

Qami is really good. Up there with the best from yesterday. Puerto Rico is all kinds of awful.

As Spanish, I feel really ashamed about Kamil’s song…

It really sounds like Chikilicuatre…

Angel and Sevak the best so far.

Heartbeat is great – easily best song so far, but at the same time I hope they have better songs. Qami is also pretty good, although I think it’s missing something. Follow the Ocean and Stare at Me are pretty boring. Puerto Rico is the worst mess I heard this year – I get this is a joke act, but it’s still aweful.

Sevak’s song is great and Kamil’s gonna rock! As I said before Vahram Petrosyan is the author of the only Armenian song that won Eurovision project! Vladimir Arzumanyan’s “Mama’ was composed by him!

And thank heavens for that!

The song has entertainment value, and he is in for “schokcing” a little. After all he is a comedian. But seriously, I can’t call it quailty music 🙂

Qami
-Beautiful

Stare at Me
-Not my cup of tea.

Puerto Rico
-Not Despacito-esque in tone but well within the Latin dance-pop genre, but still well within Dustin the Turkey-levels of mess.

Heartbeat
-The beat drop though. Might do wonders in the ESC stage but it lacking that epicness I would expect songs from this genre to have.

Follow the Ocean
-Enunciating is gonna be a problem for this guy while singing live. Oh and the song itself is very Qele Qele-esque but the lyrics get repetitive halfway and without that extra oomph to actually make me care about it.
