From SunStroke’s thrusting Epic Sax Guy to Eduard Romanyuta’s barely-dressed policewomen, Moldova is known for thinking outside-the-box at Eurovision. And during the grand final of Eurovision 2018 this evening, they’ll do it again with a wall and a series of doors that hide plenty of surprises.
DoReDoS — the bubbly trio known for their over-the-top facial expressions — pop in and out of the structure, telling the story of a complicated romance and rather amusing misunderstanding. The leading lady — that’s Marina Djundiet — oozes sass as her bandmates Eugeniu Andrianov and Sergiu Mita grow increasingly confused on where they stand with her. Each artist comes with a doppelgänger dancer, who help their counterpart open and shut the doors and windows. And at times they scale hidden ladders and rungs.
Today the trio have released a behind-the-scenes video which films the performance from the other side of the doors.
As you can see in the video above, there isn’t much wiggle room. The three singers and dancers must work with great precision as they open and close the trap doors. There’s little room for error: Make a mistake or show a bit too much of yourself and the illusion is ruined.
