Sanremo 2021 Irama Noemi COVID

Mere hours before the opening show of Italy’s Sanremo 2021, RAI has announced that Irama’s performance will be postponed for one night. A member of the singer’s team has tested positive for COVID-19, meaning Irama also had to be tested for the virus. While he waits for his results to come back, Noemi will take his place on Tuesday night.

Irama’s performance postponed as he awaits COVID test results

RAI’s statement explains that one of Irama’s team tested positive in a swab test. As a result, Irama also had to undergo a test. Pending his results, his performance which was scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed until Wednesday. Noemi, who was due to perform on the second evening, will take his place tonight. The broadcaster has not commented on what will happen if Irama’s test comes back positive.

Different precedents have been set in different countries. In Albania, Manjola Nallbani was forced to withdraw from Festival i Kenges after contracting COVID-19. However, Sweden’s Melodifestivalen allows rehearsal footage to be used if an artist tests positive.

I can’t believe the streaming went out just as Achille Lauro was about to perform and didn’t come back until he was finished.

I still hate how only the women get flowers, this would have been a good year to stop that. Anyway, Folcast is my favourite of the newcomers so far.

Yeah, Folcast really stood out, even if all four were good.

flowers are the symbol of sanremo (it’s what its economy was based on before tourism), so that’s a way to promote them as they’re sold in the rest of italy, even tho they should find a better way to include them in the show imo

I mean, what does RAI have to comment about it. Sanremo rules of this year state the singer will have to withdraw in case of positive test. I wish all the best to him. 🙁

I think that they announced scenario B now so that all the delegations get their stuff in order so this doesn’t happen in May. I expect the HOD meeting next month will have all the delegations submit their plans to insure they will be in Rotterdam.

I hope it is negative, and that no other performers or staff are in this situation.

I loved the part where Madame is between 9 guest starts, because it’s exactly the kind of nonsense Sanremo loves! 😀
