Marina Satti’s Eurovision 2024 song title has been revealed — and it is called “Zari”. The song will be released on the 7th of March.
There are two of the details that surfaced today about Greece’s participation. As disclosed by a reporter during a Greek morning show, Marina Satti’s entry is a collaborative composition featuring contributions from OGE, Marina Satti herself, and other creators. “Zari” is the Greek word for dice.
The reporter also presented footage capturing the ongoing filming of the music video at the Holy Rock of the Acropolis. In these visuals, Fokas Evangelinos appeared, as he will serve as the artistic director for Greece’s entry in Eurovision 2024.
During the broadcast, Marina Satti was seen atop the Acropolis, holding the Greek flag with the ancient Greek artefacts in the background. It was indicated that she assumes the role of a tour guide for the video clip, which, as previously mentioned, involves extensive outdoor shooting.
As GPStomusic.gr reports, the shoot also focused on other characteristic areas of Attica, including Omonia, Lykavittos, Rafina, and “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport. The clip was directed by the Australian Zac Wiesel.
The show also revealed that “Zari” will predominantly feature Greek lyrics, with consideration given to incorporating minimal English lyrics to enhance the song’s accessibility to the international Eurovision audience. It was reiterated that the zournas remains the defining musical instrument for the song.

Evangelinos has served as a choreographer for numerous countries in the Eurovision Song Contest, with each entry’s position listed below:

2019: 22nd place for Spain with Miki Núñez’s “La Venda.”

2018: Azerbaijan’s Aisel Mamadova ranked 11th in the semi-finals with “X My Heart.”
2017: 19th place for Greece with Demy’s “This Is Love.”
2016: 3rd place for Russia with Sergey Lazarev’s “You’re the Only One.”
Additionally, Evangelinos was the creative director for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest held in Greece. Noteworthy placements include:

I am SO excited. I have wanted Marina to represent Greece ever since she released Koupes. A song featuring the zourna and in Greek sounds like it could be in the style of Mantissa?
So many years I didn´t have high expectations in Greece at ESC like this year. I appreciate Marina Satti as a singer with an immense artistic level. “Zari” seems to be quite interesting.

Given the underwhelming songs we got so far, Greece’s alleged folk sound will stand out and it has a stance for high placing this year!
I saw Marina live in London last week! Perfect vocals, good stage presence and her repertoire beautiful mixtures of Greek more traditional (not ethnic but traditional) elements with pop contemporary sound! Plus those mixes of traditional songs really beautiful performed!! I really recommend to give it a go to her album! I have high expectations!!!!

This could be the winner of ESC 2024 I feel
Marina has a very strong team behind her so I’m expecting the full package including a strong song and a good staging. She has fokas and Majnoon who has choreographed Loreen (tattoo), Rosalia, Anita and other major artists. Such talented artists will only take on projects that have potential. That’s why I expect Marina is preparing a strong entry for greece this year. A top 10 is almost guaranteed

We shouldn’t have too high expectations of Zari. We had that with some of the other entries this year and then we were disappointed. If we have low expectations or don’t expect anything different, then we will be blown away!

A few additional information from Greek media. The song is written by Marina herself, along with a team of composers that she has previously worked with, such as OGE who’s a hip hop/urban artist and composer. One of their previous collaborations was a song called “Ponos Kryfos”, which was one of Marina’s biggest hits. Evangelinos mostly helped truly awful songs so far, but he was also the stage director of Greece 2022. That was a good one. Literally the only good one was not mentioned in this article. This one also sounds promising.
Evangelinos will be the stage director, but otherwise there’s nobody from the so called “dream team” involved thankfully.
The “dream team” already has a lot to do with Cyprus` entry..
I have heard some of her other songs and they feel a bit TOO ethnic for me and the casual listener. They don’t have much of an actual melody so it’s possible this entry will qualify but come in the bottom five like EeAa last year. However, what makes me hopeful is that Satti says it’s something people can dance to, so hopefully it will be catchy!
Normally though, I like ethnic entries.
Stop complaining about her songs being too ethnic then lol. Marina has a very unique style blending traditional sounds with modern rhymes and composition. She’s an excellent vocalist and a very skilled dancer and performer – watch her recent live concert at Technopolis City in Athens on YT to get an idea.
Let’s see what Greece shall serve this year! I am rooting for something contemporary, not very folklore, but we will just have to wait and see.
