After tantalizing us with a preview last week, France’s Anggun has finally released the official video to her Eurovision entry “Echo (You and I).” In it Anggun moves from fashion studio to war zone to sewing shop to military base—all in three minutes—thereby mirroring the schizophrenic quality of the song, which travels from rock to R&B to pop in its first 15 seconds.
The video opens with Anggun meeting up with famed French designer Jean Paul Gaultier who will design her costume for Baku. This could be a blessing or a curse. Gaultier famously designed Dana International’s Eurovision gown back in 1998—the year she won with “Diva.” But when the two teamed up again in 2011—Gaultier made a garrish sea monster costume—she crashed out in the semi-finals.
What do you think of the video below? And how do you rate those back-up dancers?

I love the perfume advertorial feel of the whole production, and it’s unmistakeably French. I hope France does do well. It’s important… Read more »
