Long before our stars took to the Eurovision stage they were bouncing around in the play pin. In honor of the innocence that preceded all the sequins and cleavage, I’ve compiled a video of ESC contestants before they were our beloved contestants and singers.
Some of the images are really striking. Before Alexander Rybak looked like a frog, he looked like an adorable chipmunk. I love the black-and-white photo of Krista Siegfrids pre-technicolor explosion. Other singers featured in the video include Eric Saade, Alex Sparrow and Zlata Ognevich.

My only critic: too much focus on eastern bloc countries despite the 3 scandinavian artists included. I fully understand the focus now being given to eastern bloc countries considering their sucess in Eurovision (both deserved and undeserved) but I find it sad that we’re slowly ignoring decades of Eurovision and just focus on what goes on these last recent years.
