Just two days after the grand final in Malmö, rumours started swirling that Sergej Cetkovic would represent Montenegro at Eurovision 2014. A couple of days ago, Sergej held a concert in Montenegro’s capital Podgorica. There he gave an interview to PrvaTV, the tv station that works both in Serbia and Montenegro. He confirmed that he is, in fact, negotiating with RTCG about participating in Copenhagen next year.

He said he will soon inform the public if everything goes well. For y’all who speak Montenegrin or any other Balkan language, here is the full interview.

Sergej is very popular in all of the former Yugoslav countries. If you look at his upcoming tour dates, he’s even performing in Austria. Eurovision might help him go even more international than that. He’s best known for his song ‘Pogledi u tami’ (Glances in the dark), which was used on the soundtrack for the movie ‘Pogledi sa eifellovog tornja’.

Here are two of his more recent songs.

There’s always enough space for us to mention our sweetheart from Croatia-Nina Badric. The video below shows Sergej performing alongside Nina with her song from 2004, Carobno jutro, in the Belgrade Arena in 2012.

What do you think? No more robot dances and space suits at Eurovision? Could he possibly collaborate with Nina?

By the songs above, it doesn’t seem like he can compose like Zeljko. That would be a huge difference.

@ Glen exactly! He’s so similar to Željko.

He’s good and I like his music but I still doubt stuff like this will actualy win in the Eurovision.

I don’t see any differences between him and Zeljko to be honest. With the right song, Top 3 finish is on the cards for Montenegro!

Er, I meant the four songs above.

Well, he seems like a strong vocalist. I like the second song the most. However, the three songs above, while not really objectionable, wouldn’t quite cut it for Eurovision in my mind. Still, with a strong composer, Montenegro could finally appear in the final next year.

They would’ve gotten through this year, were it not for the lousy new scoring system!
