The first semi-final wrapped in Moldova on Tuesday evening. The clean-up crew has now removed all the stray sequins and fake eyelashes from the floor, and tonight all eyes will be on the second semi-final. Our readers have cast their votes in our poll and they want to see Margarita Ciorici sail through with her haunting song “Vis” (Dream).
Margarita has emerged as a clear favorite to win tonight’s second semi-final of O melodie pentru Europa. With 192 votes (37%), and a decent set of lungs, she towers over everybody else. The 47-year old singer failed to advance to the final last year with the English language “Coma”. Probably encouraged by Aliona Moon’s success with “O mie” last year, Margarita has entered “Vis”, a song with beautiful Romanian lyrics and a dreamy yet uplifting melody. Margarita is our favorite, too!
Margarita, who is also known as Margarita & Metafora owing to her band name, is aiming high, but she is not the only one. With 47 votes, Cristina Scarlat is your second favorite tonight with her song “Wild Soul”. It is Cristina’s third attempt to represent Moldova at Eurovision and she said that she views Boris Covali as her main competitor. She released her dramatic video three days ago. It’s dark, y’all.
Glam Girls, who came fourth with our readers, released their video for “You Believed In Me” earlier this week. Is it just us, or is Lidia Isac (the red head) the only one singing after Diana Brescan left the group? Alexandra Druc seems to have been relegated to backing vocalist.
According to your votes, the other qualifiers tonight should be Lucia S, Curly, EDICT, Mikaella and Lana Lights. Like in the first semi, seven songs will be selected by a 50/50 jury and public vote, and an eighth song will be “saved” by televoting alone.
The second semi-final starts at 19:00 CET and will be broadcast on the TRM website.
