Now that Russia’s Tolmachevy Sisters have released their lackluster Eurovision song “Shine”, betting agencies across Europe have a full roster of entries to dissect. The first set of Eurovision odds to come out after Russia’s release suggest it’s a year for ballads and mid-tempo soul, with Armenia’s Aram Mp3 leading the way.

Of the 13 betting agencies we’ve consulted, the “Not Alone” singer is the favourite at every single one of them, with his odds as low as 1. His electro ballad, which includes some stirring instrumentals, has generated a lot of buzz on our web site. Some of you have worried openly that it’s too similar to “Running” by Hungary’s Kallay-Saunders. Others have suggested it has a similar vibe to the “Children of the Universe” by Britain’s Molly Smitten-Downes. The bookies clearly do not share your fears.

Aram’s closest competitor at the moment is Sweden’s Sanna Nielsen. The “Undo” singer—who may or may not have Seasonal Affective Disorder—has odds between 5 and 5.5 at most betting houses. If her ballad has you feeling low, don’t stress. You can remix your sad with the dance version.

Norway’s Carl Espen—the man with tattoos who knows how to do vulnerable—is in a deadlock with Sanna. He also has odds as low as 5.

After Norway, a gap opens up on the odds table. Hungary’s Kallay-Saunders, Belgium’s Axel Hirsoux, and Azerbaijan’s Dilara round out the top 6.

Host nation Denmark is currently seventh favourite. Apparently Bruno Mars goes down well with the bookies.

The United Kingdom has the honour of being the highest-rated Big 5 nation. Child of the Universe Molly Smitten-Downes sits in an impressive eighth. Looks like the BBC’s plan to get serious is being taken seriously.

I don’t know about y’all, but I’m putting an each-way bet down on Italy, Romania, Ukraine or Greece for a Top 4 finish. You can never count them out…and you stand to make some money honey.

What do you think of the current betting odds? The bookies always get some of the favourites wrong. (Hey Stella Mwangi! How you doin’ Amaury?) Which of these favourites is more likely to tank than to win? Let us know in the comments box below.

The thing is that Sweden couldn’t really win this year beacuse they won with Loreen 2 years ago, it would cost alot of money for Sweden to host Eurovision again in such a short period of time.

Again, I do think that but Armenia and Azerbaijan are trying to manipulate the voting. One way to do it is by betting odds. Another way is buying the votes which Azerbaijan has already been found guilty….

@ NargizAZ, Actually, I agree. If Armenia wins, most likely Azerbaijan will withdraw. Armenia did not go to Baku, just because of the Azerbaijan’s president’s comment: when he said, “Armenia is our number 1 enemy…” And where was Europe and why didn’t any of the countries discuss the fact that a Eurovision is a song contest and not an opportunity to show political likes and dislikes. Why? This year everyone is bashing Aram mp3 for a lame rumor and calling him a homophobe and so on….which is so dumb, btw, since he us NOT. Where were you guys when the… Read more »

I’m cool with top 4. I’d only wish Switzerland defeats silly poll odds and passes into finals.

And yes, please make Azerbaijan and/or Russia stay in the semi for once. I know both will probably pass like always, since juries are bought and televoting is manipulated with, but I would be thrilled for them to be last and to learn a lesson.

@Leon, 1) As I said earlier, you don’t need to prove me anything. You have your own right to introduce yourself as whoever you want to. 2) Good for you. 3) I actually didn’t use that term. I don’t really prefer using the name of a nationality with such a dirty propaganda. But that’s right, most of the propaganda, and the trolls come from this background because of the brainwashing media which is controlled by the anti-Azerbaijani Armenian government. 4) Then please stop introducing Armenia as a victim. Neither Azerbaijan nor Armenia is an angel, they both have their mistakes.… Read more »

@Rashad, for the purposes of leaving politics out of this contest, this is going to be my last response to you. 1) I don’t hate Azerbaijan, in fact as I’ve told you before, I don’t judge people based on their nationality, I wish I could send you my birth certificate, but you can believe in what you want to believe in; 2) Yes, I know a lot about Caucasus, and Middle East because I’m studying International Relations with emphasis on that region; 3) Nothing in what I said was “brainwashed Armenian propaganda” ( I don’t even know what that is).… Read more »

@ Leon And what does make you feel sure that Azerbaijan will withdraw, if Armenia will be the host country of Eurovision 2015?? I don’t really think that it will happen anyways! It’s clear that ITV loves Eurovision very much, that is explanation of Azerbaijan’s successfull results in Eurovision, I think. They wouldn’t give up so easily! And also Azerbaijan took part in several sport editions which held in Armenia, why not Eurovision?? 🙂 But anyways, I don’t think that this year Armenia deserves to be winner, there are better songs (Norway, UK)!! Not like I wouldn’t be happy of… Read more »

@Leon, I’m sorry, I don’t believe what you’re telling about your ethnicity. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not xenophobic, and I don’t care where you are from. But there is plenty of fake accounts spreading anti-Azerbaijani propaganda all over the internet. I think you are one of them, you don’t need to prove me anything. I’m just expressing what I think. I don’t think BBC or other media organizations are trustful enough. They just need news, they usually don’t even make a research. I’ve watched them too, and they didn’t have any proofs. I was watching the show live on… Read more »

I agree about Italy, Romania, Ukraine and Greece. They will probably do pretty well this year. Ditto with Russia. I’ m not that sure about Armenia, Norway, Hungary or the UK. Perhaps they will get some votes here and there, but I don’t see much mass appeal in any of these entries. Perhaps I will change my mind during the live. I wasn’t that crazy about Denmark last year either until she came up on stage. I am afraid this year might be like 2011 when we had a winner by default with only two or three twleve points. Or… Read more »

I do believe that Norway will tank in the ranks. I’ve watched a lot of people’s ‘top 37’ youtube videos and Norway is not at the top at all. Also based on youtube the winner would be the UK but with Armenia a very close second.

@Rashad, I’m actually not Armenian. I live in the United States and I’m half Italian, Greek and my other half is Persian. To reference back to your arguments: 2009: There are proofs from international media (BBC, even US news) discussing what Azerbaijan did in 2009. They in fact pulled the cable while the sisters were singing, then blurred their number line and whoever voted were interrogated by the national security administration. As for the monuments, Azerbaijan used a monument from Tabriz, Iran for both semi-final and final and they were not asked to remove it or take it down. So,… Read more »

@Leon, I’m sorry, but it really DOES sound anti-Azeri. I don’t mind you being pro-Armenian though. It’s your country anyway. 2009 – They didn’t pull the cable. They just hid the SMS number of the phone carrier during the recap of the performances. It’s actually not a big deal. The voters already knew the number from the previous performance. However I don’t appreciate what they did, and I’m glad that ITV had to pay a fine. It was probably a fault of an idiot. I HAVE voted for Armenia, but I’ve never been asked for an interrogation. It’s false. I’m… Read more »

I know this sounds mean and I’m not pro Armenian or anti-Azeri and their whole conflict is really none of my business, but one of the reasons why I really want Armenia to win is to see Azerbaijan withdraw for one year and for their aggressive fans to take the back seat. They have violated numerous EBU policies and have gone unpunished, for example: 2009: They pulled the cable when Armenian duo started singing, then the national security administration interrogated those who had voted for Armenia; 2011: The reports regarding Azerbaijan buying votes, which of course no one took seriously… Read more »

I’m feeling somewhere south for 2015. Budapest or Madrid? Don’t count out Hungary and Spain yet. Everyone’s crazy over Armenia but how will he perform it live? We already know that Ruth and Kallay-Saunders can kill it live–both gave strong vocal performances at their national finals. The UK, too, we’ve heard live, another strong voice. I think this will be another year similar to 2011–there’s tons of early favorites, but in the end, the winner will be a surprise.
