Last night Ilse DeLange took to the stage in Berlin without Waylon, the man many of us presumed was the official other half of the Common Linnets. After all, the duo placed second at Eurovision and have subsequently topped the charts in 14 countries. They did this together.
But speaking to Germany’s BILD, Ilse explained that the Common Linnets is merely her vehicle to record songs with friends—and the passenger seat is always in flux.
“I can understand that many people who have seen the Eurovision Song Contest think that we’re a duo, but The Common Linnets will never be that,” she said. “I just wanted to record an album with friends. ”
Yes, Ilse can remain, but her singing partner is always going to change.
Waylon told us as much the other day, after he went missing and then resurfaced on Facebook.
What do you think of the news? Will Ilse be able to keep the momentum going without Waylon by her side? Do you think that he has any chance of replicating the success with The Common Linnets on his own?

Ilse is a businesswoman….uuggh
@Sofie: Waylon is the one singing on the album.
It’s not that odd people think The Common Linnets are a duo, since all 13 songs on the album are sung by Ilse and/or Waylon.
I still think they should keep performing together, but if they’re not getting along…
So it is Ilse and Co… but who else is going to be in the group then?
There’s one smart lady 😉
Enjoy the music first and foremost … and less complaining or commenting on how the band should be or should not be … that is none of our business … the song was the main element in the competition and not the performers … I don’t see Conchita performing Rise Like A Phoenix whenever she goes outside Austria and no one is complaining either …
But is Waylon the one singing with her on the album? I don’t think it sounds like his voice…
This woman is all business
It’s okay but Waylon should do the promo tour with her because he actually recorded the album with Ilse!!!
