San Marino—the little nation that can—will reveal its artist, song title and composers on Monday, September 29. But Eurofestivalnews is already giving us clues about who and how those artists have been selected.

SMRTV will select its act from “Vocine Nuove di Castrocaro” (Little Voices of Castrocaro)—a televised singing contest for children up to 14 years of age in the Terme and Terra del Sole regions of Italy. The Junior Eurovision act will not neccessarily be the winner of the show, but rather a former finalist (or, in the event of a duet or trio, finalists). The station has also struck a deal to use the show as its national selection in the years ahead. Yes, that means SMRTV is making a steady committment to JESC!

As you’ll recall, San Marino—population 33,000—is allowed to recruit contestants from outside of San Marino because of its small size. For last year’s debut it went with Michele Perniola, an Italian who rose to prominence on another Italian TV show.

Eurofestival news reports that Antonello Carozza, who menotred Michele, will also be responsible for this year’s act.
