RTVSLO, Slovenia’s national broadcaster, has made the announcement yesterday that four special guests will be co-hosting this year’s EMA national final, which takes place on 28 February at 20.00 CET. You can read the confirmed list of co-hosts below.

Darja Švajger

One of Slovenia’s most popular singers, Darja is best known for representing the country at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995 and 1999. Her first entry “Prisluhni mi” (Listen to me) finished 7th, making it Slovenia’s joint best Eurovision result so far alongside Nuša Derenda’s “Energy” in 2001. She made her Eurovision return four years later with “For A Thousand Years”, finishing 11th.

Maja Keuc

Maja rose to fame after finishing as runner-up on the first ever series of Slovenija ima talent (Slovenia’s Got Talent) in 2010. A year later, she competed in the EMA national final with “Vanilija” and the rest is history. “Vanilija” eventually became the English version that is “No One” and Maja went on to become Slovenia’s second semi-final qualifier after Alenka Gotar in 2007. She eventually finished 13th in the final. However, this is not the first time Maja (or Amaya as she’s now known under her stage name) has co-hosted a national final. She co-hosted the Misija Evrovizija national selection show with Klemen Slakonja in 2012.

Tinkara Kovach

All of this year’s finalists will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of our third co-host, a professional flautist who represented the country at last year’s contest. However, Tinkara is no stranger to the EMA national final, having tried to represent the country three times in 1997, 1999 and 2001. After she finally made it fourth time lucky with “Round and round”, Tinkara became Slovenia’s third semi-final qualifier and finished 25th in the final at Copenhagen.

Nejc Šmit

A man of many talents, Nejc is an improviser, musician and student of psychology as well as a stand-up comedian, having performed several comedy gigs across Slovenia. His most memorable achievement was performing at the final of Slovenian stand-up comedy Stand up komik leta in 2013.
