William: Ahead of Eurovision, some critics suggested that Latvia’s Aminata Savadogo would get lost on the vast Eurovision stage. Well think again haters! Aminata towers over the stage thanks to a platform (cleverly hidden by her ruffles) and her voice is so big we should really double the size of the arena. As at Latvia’s national selection this is simple and pared down, and brings drama through her Amazon-inspired dance moves. The dominant color is red — the color of blood, the color of passion, the colour of life! —  and behind her we see flashes of ornate cathedral windows. It’s fitting: This performance is spiritual and all-encompassing.

Ok first things first, the background is spectacular and fits the music perfectly, among the best this year.

I think her voice sounds a little nasal in these videos and that will put a lot of people off. The dress catches the eye but up close the bodice is really unflattering.

She will go to the final but should not expect a top placing there.

The song is amazing an so is her voice, but I don’t think the staging is effective. The flashing white lights at the beggining, which is the more quiet part of the song, really bother me. Her siren dress with the ruffles looks cheap, and up close, so does the top with the black mesh underneath. The head piece doesn’t exactly favour her either.

This is getting a bit overhyped, I understand why is popular, but lets be real, the not eurofan audience will not like it, I’ve shown this song to 5 different people and no one has had a positive reaction, is an interesting but weird song, there’s no doubt Aminata delivers it perfectly but I worry the public won’t pick up the phone and vote for it.

It looks like a definite qualifier at the moment. The biggest problem of the song is the verses being badly performed and not having a lot going on in them and they seem to have fixed this by using some lighting effects during these times. If she can perform like this on the night, then she is going to do well.

She is fantastic.

Backing vocals are little bit distracting, but I still believe this goes high.

What a voice, what a presence. Aminata sounds and looks not only like she is singing from the heart, but that she is the heart. Stunning.

I am really liking it now. I still prefer her dress from the Latvian final because it shows off her movements better, but she still looks good!
