Game on Bulgaria! More than 1,000 kids submitted entries for Bulgaria’s national selection for Junior Eurovision 2015. On August 17 at 20:00 CET, Bulgaria’s bTV will broadcast highlights from those submissions.
On the eve of the show, and to help build a bit of hype, officials have revealed that Orlin Pavlov will sit on the Bulgarian jury.
Orlin knows a thing or two about performing. He was the lead singer of Kaffe, which, in 2005, became the first act ever to represent Bulgaria at Eurovision. They finished 19th in the semi-final.
Their bid was marred by controversy. Critics suggested their song “Lorraine” drew heavily on a 2001 song from Ruslan Mainov. But life twirls on. In 2008 Orlin won the Bulgarian edition of Dancing With the Stars. And in 2012 he appeared on VIP Brother, Bulgaria’s version of Celebrity Big Brother, alongside Pamela Anderson.
He’s well enthused about his latest gig.
“Hosting Junior Eurovision 2015 is a big achievement for our country. I felt very happy when the news was announced few months ago,” Pavlov said in a statement. “Now I am very grateful to BNT for the faith they have in me to do this important job. I can never forget how magical the Eurovision stage is, and now I know that a Bulgarian child will have the unique chance to feel it. I am sure that our country will be represented once again with dignity and all of Europe will see how enormously talented our young performers really are.”
Pavlov is a huge star in his homeland. This gives us up that the rumours about Nina Dobrev are true…
