The smallest country currently participating in Eurovision, San Marino, is hoping to go big this year as they plan to announce their entrant this Tuesday, January 12. The announcement will take place in a press conference at 18:00 CET that night, according to SMRTV.
While no details of the act or song have been revealed yet, it is rumoured that this year’s entry will have an international flavour, with involvement from both songwriters and performers from outside San Marino. We have heard rumours involving both Greece and Russia, perhaps following on from San Marino using Russian performer Kamilla Ismailova in Junior Eurovision last year.
The microstate, with its population of just over 32,500, has a limited number of performers, but that didn’t stop San Marino sending Valentina Monetta three years in a row. We’ve found several Sammarinese artists before who could do their country proud. B-Project could bring their EDM game on, or we could rock out with Helia, or possibly even see the newly-monikered Sen(h)it bring her new pop flavor to Stockholm. But whether from San Marino or somewhere else, whoever it may be, we’re excited!
The announcement will be streamed live on SMRTV on Tuesday January 12 at 18:00 CET.
Who do you think will be San Marino’s representative? Should the microstate use international talent? Share your thoughts below!
uhh i kinda dread about this already lol
Michaela could represent San Marino as soloist this time!
Don’t pick Ralph Siegel to write the song!!!!! Valentina, the pepermints or some well known Italian artist are most likely to get picked. I hope they get it right though, I always feel sorry for San Marino in practically every competition they take part in.
I am sure there are a few San Marinese artists but the state broadcaster is fucked up for choosing a has-been German composer and writer to pen the entry every year. Also, why would they keep sending english songs and not Italian ones?
Valentina or another Kamilla would be good.
It better be the Peppermints!!!
@PP Weak voice? No!!!
I just hope Valentia will return
As long as Siegel is not involved, its gonna be good
Will they announce only the artist or also the song?
Mhhh San Marino… I don’t know what to expect from this…
I indeed hope for a songwriter from outside San Marino and no Ralph Siegel.
Songwriter from Sweden or Russia and a Italian singer maybe.
rumor: Sisters Tolmachevy to announce Russian Votes (spokesperson).
VALENTINA MONETTA!!!!
I expect some female singer from Russia with weak voice , who have rich husband or parents.
