It’s important to peak at the right time, and the Netherlands’ Douwe Bob is doing just that.
On April 28 he made his final television appearance before leaving for Stockholm to sing “Slow Down” at Eurovision.
He appeared on the popular Dutch talkshow De Wereld Draait Door, and followed that up with a special “farewell concert”. Performing in a small venue next to the television studio, he entertained an audience of 500 enthusiastic Douwe Bob fans.
Asked who his favourites were at Eurovision this year, he said that he didn’t know how to answer since he is such a “60s and 70s snob” when it comes to music.
However, he did admit that he liked France’s Amir very much as a person.
Amir also had some heartwarming words for Douwe Bob when he visited the Netherlands during Eurovision in Concert.
During the concert, which was livestreamed on the De Wereld Draait Door web site, Douwe sang some of his hits, including “Sweet Sunshine” and “Pass It On”, as well as his debut single “Multicoloured Angel”.
He also mixed things up with some songs from his upcoming album Fool Bar.
Do you think Douwe Bob will do well in Stockholm? Tell us in the comments below!
LOVE IT!!!!!! Good luck Douwe Bob from IRELAND.

Here you find also the other songs he was singing on his goodbye concert!
This one I love personally: http://dewerelddraaitdoor.vara.nl/media/356566
I enjoyed this performance, even though this type of music does not usually fit into my personal taste. Actually i have tried listening to other songs by Douwe Bob and I can’t stand those songs, but for some reason I find “Slow Down” to be more endearing. So well done all, and I’m looking forward to Stockholm – not long to wait now! 🙂
Now this is what you call a quality entry, it would be a blow to the credibility the contest has built up as of late if it somehow didn’t qualify…
@Colin
and maybe your favourites will change at the night itself, thank you that you like the Netherlands, your country is well represented by Nina, i like her
and let’s hope that Ira can blow you away with her live performance, also Molly who i like as well 🙂
@Nicky91
I am from Croatia, so I can and will vote in semi final 1. 🙂
One of my votes will go to Estonia and I am torn between giving another one to Czech Republic, Austria, Iceland or Netherlands. I guess it will depend on the final performance. Anyway, all are in my Top 10.
Good performance. Maybe the ‘never done before’ part of his performance in Stockholm will be a singalong? It certainly lifts a song that, to a lot of people, is a little boring (not to me, but I’m a bit old fashioned in my music taste).
@Colin
but you can’t vote in semi final 1, am i right
well i think Malta has luck on their side with the running order, which is also important and i’m really relaxed right now, because now i know Molly will probably do that one difficult high note, and Ira has proved herself already to me in the pre-party’s singing flawless 🙂
and also that she’s making friends with Iveta, Samra and Hovi and Sanja 🙂
@Nicky91
I have 6 favorite songs of the semi (alphabetically): Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Iceland and Netherlands. Final four qualifiers would among Malta, Hungary, Armenia, Russia, Cyprus and Moldova. I think I would prefer it be Malta, Hungary, Moldova and Armenia, but we all know that Russia, and probably Azerbaijan as well, will qualify.
@Colin
well it’s growing even on me, i was against it at first, but i think it can be in the top 10 of semi final 1, for me there are 8 songs who are worse
of course for me Croatia, Malta and Armenia are better than Douwe, but i like him 🙂
Netherlands has an awesome song 🙂 This deserves to go to finals! I really hope Nina and Douwe complement each other when performing in a row and that neither song outshadows the other in a way someone gets left out.
@nene
sorry that i said that, hopefully he’ll slay in may 🙂
good luck to your favourites 🙂
@ nicky91
this will NOT be the staging for stockholm. numerous times he said that the staging will be subtle and it’ll be something that’s never been done before at eurovision. stop spreading false rumors..
@Alex
yeah i kinda hope so too, Douwe is growing on me lately
could you please vote for Netherlands and Malta, don’t forget to vote 🙂
as i will vote as well, for Malta and Czech Republic 🙂
@Nicky91
Malta together with the Netherlands are my very favourite ones from Semi Final 1! Then follow Estonia, Hungary, Armenia, Czechia, Azerbaijan and Croatia.
I hope ur country makes it to the Grand Final 😛
@Nicky91
I honestly don’t know whose song is better. They are two different genres. One is country and the other one is alternative. Estonia’s song sounds like a more pumped version of Tindersticks with the orchestral backing, a tiny amount of soul and bass-baritone vocal. And I think it’s not most people’s cup of tea while the Netherlands’ song is more radio friendly.
@PP
omg don’t you like Malta and Netherlands below San Marino, Montenegro shame on you
My TOP 18 for first semi
1.Czech Republic
2.Russia
3.Estonia
4.Armenia
5.Azerbaijan
6.Croatia
7.Iceland
8.Greece
9.Cyprus
10.Hungary
11.Bosnia Herzegovina
12.Austria
13.Finland
14.Malta
15.Moldova
16.San Marino
17.Montenegro
18.The Netherlands
@PP
i also think the same, but i like Greece and Czech Republic, so i wouldn’t mind seeing them qualify 🙂
I love the Ann Sophie light staging and I hope he will use them in Stockholm.
Douwe Bob is a really good singer. His song is decent enough, and I think he will be one of the ten qualifiers.
My prediciton that 14 countries will fight for 10 place for final, only no chance for final for 4 countries in first semi San Marino, Montenegro, Finland and Moldova.
100 % in final Russia, Armenia, Malta , Azerbaijan. I think in final go also Estonia, Croatia and Cyprus
From 8 to 10 place for final fight between Bosnia, Netherlands, Hungary, Iceland, Greece, Czech Republic, Austria
My prediction 8. Hungary 9.The Netherlands thanks to juries 10. Greece thanks to televote
Out 11.Czech Republic 12.Bosnia 13.Iceland 14.Austria
Germany’s 2015 staging is not a good option lol
@hasa
i think so too, Estonia also has got a good looking singer, but i’ve been reading a interview with Douwe, and he doesn’t fear anyone from semi final 1, quite arrogant to say that, because i think Nina, Gabriela, Ira and Iveta are better singer and performers than him, to my opinion
i think he can win some spots over San Marino, Moldova, Montenegro and for me his song is better than Estonia’s Play, more catchier, and Austria’s Zoe’s loin d’ici is far too sweet for my music taste 🙂
The Netherlands has to fight Estonia for the spot. No doubt Douwe Bob is the better singer but “Play” has much bigger potential on stage. It has a nice build-up, and the camera angle when the song hits the climax is something worth waiting for.
This will be in the top of the juries. Mark my wordt!
@Alex
yeah i like the group Argo, they seem really nice
and btw what do you think about Ira Losco, she’s my favourite and she will be definitely getting my vote along with 1 vote for Nina Kraljic 🙂
Haha I see you guys keep mentioning Greece as a possible qualifier instead of any other country with a better song, but come on! It’s a quiet bad song, with stupidly written lyrics, worst draw possible, with just a propably good performance as an asset. Greece will qualify if only the other entries are that worse!
P.S. : I’m Greek.
@Jr esc nl
well that’s cool to hear that
i think douwe could qualify with the help of televoters, i wouldn’t say top 3 in semi final 1, but he can make the top 10 🙂
@Henry
yeah public love a good looking guy, look at Eric Saade, he became third 🙂
Douwe Bob guitar player Lives one village away from my House!! I hope he comes along to the esc stage 🙂
@esc2016
he’s definitely better than Montenegro, Greece, to me personally better than Sergey, and i can see him qualifying maybe 6th place or 7th place 🙂
not the best of semi final 1, but he’s not the worst
so best of luck to Netherlands my country
I think the powerhouse countries in semi final 1 could be
Croatia
Czech Republic
Malta
Armenia
probably Russia on lots of jury vote
and Douwe will be behind these acts
I am now extra proud of my country,because the support from the [Dutch] fans is amazing and great!
@nicky91
If this will be the stage then the result will be breathtaking….vert good!!
Everyone loves the common linets I guess….????
@bbb
The sure is that juries will destroy the results…again
Just amazing!! What a voice…
Deserve the final but unfortunetly I dont see to pass…(like Greece)????????
Netherlands in final only if juries push them so hard in points . My predicition in TOP 5 with juries in semi, but with televote from 10 to 15 place.
Interesting that he and Iceland get so little points from swedish singer who are judge of Eurovision info on SVT .
Love it! My number 1 this year.
Go Douwe!
It’s propably the first time that the Netherlands are among my big favorites (other liked by me entries were Anouk and Joan Franka’s ‘You And Me’), and so it’s the first time I’m sooo supportive with this country in Eurovision.
I think it will strugle to qualify, but were the juries on the dutch side, it could may sneak into the Semi Final’s overall Top 10!
Good Luck Douwe Bob!
Finale for sure! It really stands out among the rest. And live it’s stunning. Maybe the winner??
The backing vocal definitely add power to the song
Is that Anne Sophie’s staging from last year?
Henry, I’m agree
Douwe Bob is the real dark horse this year. His melancholic and feelgood song will stand out amongst a lot of plastic factory songs this year and “mr blue eyes” will touch a lot of televoters with his attractive stage precesence..
Final for sure!
well the staging will be exactly like this, only difference they have to playback with their guitars and keyboards i’m dutch and i really feel we have had some better more fun entries in the past than this, I am a big fan of the common linnets, i loved calm after the storm but Douwe Bob is just dull and boring, some people are seeing a new johnny cash in him, well Johnny Cash was a way better performer and singer than him if this qualifies instead of something what i like, i would rather see Greece, Moldova or San… Read more »
