It’s official! Lynda Woodruff is returning to our TV screens. Sarah Dawn Finer’s alter ego will make her comeback during the grand final of Eurovision 2016. Best of all, she’ll be live in the arena!
Eurovision 2016 scriptwriter Edward Af Sillén confirmed that we’ll see Lynda as never before, but he’s remaining tight lipped as to how. She’s appeared at both Eurovision and Melodifestivalen so often that he and SVT feel that this is a natural progression for the character.
On her comeback, Sarah says:
I love to play her, it is so much fun and we get the opportunity to create fun new ideas, but this time it will be a little bit more scary and special because it is live, with millions of viewers.
The character of Lynda Woodruff was born back in 2012 as a collaboration between Edward Af Sillén and Sarah Dawn Finer. She has appeared every year since, doing small sketches at Melodifestivalen. She also gave the Swedish votes in 2012 and guided viewers through Sweden at Eurovision 2013 in Malmö. She’s become a cult favourite amongst Eurovision fans who have been begging her return.
I’ve had so many comments and tweets over a year with questions and wishes about my character Lynda to return at ESC which is amazing. It’s an honour.
Are you as excited for the return of Woodruff? What’s your favourite Lynda sketch? Let us know below.
as long as she speaks some French it’s fine by me
What If Lydia … or Shara whould whould compete in The national selection in UK. Shara has even a citizenship in UK. I know the thought has crossed her mind, knowing the risk to get a bad place in the swedish melfest because of it’s development.
(Now days singers that has been in the melfest earlier often has difficulties too succed if they have had a major hit after the melfest earlier. Some times it has been posdible, for exemle Måns and Sanna!)
Thank you for your reply Jonas!
Here Lydia in real person as Sara singing “I’m moving on” in the melfest 2009.

What If Lydia would show her singing skils in a context of humor . Maby Lydia could get a make over and sing Sharas song ” I’m moving on” from the melfest 2009. Or have a singing lesson like Sara in mellfest this year in the melfest in Gävle! ????
Many of those who realy beleve that Lydia in fore real would be stunned!
@ESCaddict: What do you want instead? A full documentary on Sergey falling over and over again from his over the top stage wall to the point of being carried to an ambulance? Hasn’t that guy got all the attention and pub he wanted? We already have one hell of a Kardashian in the world .. enough with the bs …. and bring in the comedy to keeps us distracted from all the focus-on-me-crappy-music.
Sarah Dawn Finer … best female Swedish singer since Marie Fredriksson … the main reason why I started following MF and ignoring all the schlager bs .. she is the real deal. one hell of a singer, amazing songwriter and the ONE talent Sweden needs to bring to Eurovision … Lynda is fun but … maybe becoming a bit of a cliché … Sarah is superior than that. And Europe should get to know the SINGING talent she is.
Add me to the chorus of “Put Lynda in the green room!”. Absolutely love SDF.
Cringe. Broad comedy like this does not make me laugh. Keep her appearance short.
I love Sarah Dawn Finer a lot, but Lynda Woodruff not so much. Enough already!
Toscano, her father is from England, so I’m guessing that’s why the accent is so good.
Well hellloooooo Tobias. You beauty. Please do some review videos
That video actually made me laugh! Haha juicy burger 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing her again in Stockholm.
I didn´t know this was Sarah Dawn Finer!!! I´m flipping out! How come she nails the british accent like that???? To my ear I don´t hear a single trace of swedish accent! Gorgeous!!
would be excellent to see her in the green room , that would be something special
I LOVE HER she makes me wet my pants
I Love you Lynda. You are the best.
Thank god. I love her.
@Dj Tiggeh: Lynda in the green room sounds obvious, since they said they’d try something new. 🙂
I was hoping for this. These segments have been magnificent.
Get her in the green room!
Maybe Lynda can sing The Winner Takes It All this time!
For me Petra and fictional charcter Lynda are not so funny. They try so hard to be funny.
<3 Sarah Dawn Finer
Awesome that she’s coming back!
Another Swedish institution — her spokesperson routine was the best!
