As we get closer to the big reveal of the acts competing in Melodifestivalen 2017, two more names have emerged as likely additions to the line-up. Aftonbladet reports that 2015 runner-up Jon Henrik Fjällgren is due to make a comeback, while comedy group De Vet Du are set to make their Melfest debut.

Jon Henrik Fjällgren

Reindeer herder and traditional joik singer Jon Henrik got his start in 2014 when he won Sweden’s Got Talent. He made his Melfest debut the following year with his emotional joik song “Jag är fri (Manne leam frijje)”. The song was a Melfest success, and placed third with the international jury vote, second with the Swedish televote, making it the runner-up of Mello 2015. Aftonbladet‘s source told the paper, “Jon Henrik is ready and will compete next year.”

De Vet Du

Four-piece comedy group De Vet Du (“They know you”) are known for their humorous songs and YouTube videos. They have released two albums and have had several singles in the Swedish charts. Melfest boss Christer Björkman is said to have chosen the group, hoping they will follow in the footsteps of Samir & Viktor and appeal to teen viewers. Det Vet Du are also known for their shirtless DJ, who goes by the not inaccurate name of DJ Hunk.

Jon Henrik Fjällgren and De Vet Du will join Alice Svensson, Robin Bengtsson, Ace Wilder, Boris René, Wiktoria Johansson, Mariette Hansson, Axel Schylström, John Lundvik, The Fooo Conspiracy, Lisa Ajax, Elisa Lindström, Ida LaFontaine and Les Gordons for Melodifestivalen 2017. The national selection will have a total of 28 competitors.

It is expected that broadcaster SVT will announce the entries for Melodifestivalen 2017 at a press conference in late November.

Jon is phenomenal, it’s time for something different to represent Sweden at the contest rather than the standard cookie-cutter pop song!

I’m waiting for the day Sweden sends something that’s not the same pop song we’ve already heard a thousand times. They’ve been recycling the same formula almost every year since 1999 and it got tired and uninspired soon. Caroline af Ugglas ALMOST did it in 2009, I hope Jon will next year, he’s so talented.
