Hold on: Switzerland’s Rykka is “Runnin’ Away” in new music video

She was literally the last of her kind at Eurovision 2016, placing 18th out of 18 in her semi-final.

But Rykka isn’t letting that hold her back for 2017. Following the release of her second album Beatitudes, the Canadian-Swiss star has just dropped the music video for her latest single “Runnin’ Away”.

While Rykka went for a somewhat avant-garde approach on her previous release “Bad Boy“, she plays things safe here.

“Runnin’ Away” is easy listening from an artist who has made plenty of daring choices in her career.

There’s no sign of the crazy as she keeps things classy — she trades blue dye for floppy hats.

Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be Rykka without some dancing in an empty swimming pool.

The song’s bridge adds an interesting complexion to the song as Rykka throws in some spoken word. This gives the track’s pleasant but vanilla flavouring another dimension before she goes on to nail the final chorus.

Following the release of “Map Inside“, Rykka has delivered well-produced and diverse music which continues to showcase her versatility.

With such a broad selection of music on offer, we’re eager to see what she’ll do next.
