Hei, Norge! NRK, the national broadcaster for Norway, has revealed the ten songs that will compete in Melodi Grand Prix 2017. The show takes place on March 11 in Oslo, and will feature a wide range of songs that snake from contemporary electro to old school rock to other-worldly spirit animal pop. But who will be Agnete’s successor and shimmy and shake all the way to Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv? That’s for the Norwegian public to decide. But in the meantime we want to know your favourites.
You can listen to all ten entries below, and then vote for your favourites. You can vote for as many songs as you like, but you can only vote once, so be sure to tick the boxes for each song you like before hitting the submit button. Let’s do this!
The following time I learn a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I imply, I know it was my option to learn, but I truly thought youd have something attention-grabbing to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you may repair should you werent too busy on the lookout for attention.
I don’t have a favorite song this time. First step in faith and Wrecking Crew are definitely the ones I’d vote too – wait, I’m from Brazil – but I believe Places seems to be the most appealing for televoters. If Ulrikke performs well on Saturday, she’ll win it. Unfortunately I don’t see any song here making it to the Grand Final, but as a fan of Norway I’d love one more VICTORY FOR NORGE!
I get the appeal of “Places” but it sounds similar to a lot of other songs and might be forgotten. “Mama´s Boy” is a lot of fun and catchy. I think it would stand out from the crowd.
I actually love Ella’s! This takes the love, love, peace, peace and chucks it in the bin hah! It’s like a mash up of a song from Chicago and St Trinian’s! Epic! 😛
I wonder if people that really don’t like e.g. “Places” have listened to it in full length. Cause the snippet was average but the intro, verses and everything combined in that song is just FIRE! It hit me like a bullet right into my heart when I first listened to it. I didn’t expect anything like that in this year’s MGP. Most of the songs were actually incredibly well produced. I can agree that a lot of them aren’t well written at all, but at least the full length songs were much better than the snippets. I feel sorry that… Read more »
Ammunition rocks. Best hard rock song ever in Eurovision
wow norway!!! these are really hip songs the song in sami avoids being super folksy, brave choice and the language sounds really really cool mesterverk lives up to the name and sounds a little like this song called ‘Rewind’ by Kelela ulrikke is a little generic, lithuania’s selection is full of songs like this already i go where you go! omg! never would have expected a song like this in a national final, the lyrics are terrible but it really draws you in. the folk sound is really authentic unlike rune rundberg’s country imitation kristian valen has a decent ballad… Read more »
I have to say “Wrecking crew” is growing on me and I’m not a big fan of rock music. I really like this song.
I also like “I Go Where You Go”, it has a folk sound I like.
“You and I” is a beautiful ballad.
I don’t love “Places”, but it seems the most modern song of all.
In general I’m not excited by any of the songs.
My top pick is
ULRIKKE WITH “PLACES”
Ulrikke is the only one (depending if she sounds good live and performs well on stage) who can get Norway to the grand final and score well for sure. She is so current and fresh.
My other songs i like are
AMINA SEWALI WITH “MESTERVERK”
JOWST WITH “GRAB THE MOMENT”
ELLA WITH “MAMA’S BOY”
It’s really between those above in my opinion.
The other’s i feel won’t get past the semi final stage if chosen.
I don’t like places that much…..what am I missing? 🙁
I think there is a high possibility Norway does not go to the Grand Final no matter which of these songs they send 🙁
Wreking Ball is the best choice – both because the song is a great rock song, and because it can stand out and do very well for Norway. Rock on 🙂
My prediciton in supef final will go
1.Jowst
2.Ammunition
3.Ulrikke
4.Rune Rudberg band
Figth for victory bettween Ulrikke and Jowst
TBH, not feeling inspired by any of these songs…I guess they were going for variety, but not quality.
The Sami song “First step in faith” stands out because of it’s language and atmosphere, but the others are rather forgettable, generic or boring–difficult to choose, accordingly!
“Icebreaker” from last year was even better than these! Good luck, Norway! 😀
Why is nobody loving Places.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT <3
Oh Norway, what happened? I’m sorry, but I don’t like MGP 2017 at all. It won’t be a hard time deciding between watching Melfest or MGP on 11 March… Norway is going to struggle this year, unless one of the songs magically turns out to be good on stage. “You And I” (okay, but not special) “Wrecking Crew” (good chorus, bad verses) “Grab The Moment” (kind of okay, but generic) “Places” (generic and nothing really special about it) “Mama’s Boy” (I hate songs like this, but it’s damn catchy) “Mesterverk” (meh) “I Go Where You Go” (giving me a headache)… Read more »
Mario – if you mean ESC 2017 “lacks” a cliche, why not listen to georgia again?? 🙂 You must have forgotten that one! Horrisd cliche indeed…and WHAYT a let down, asfter their great indie rock song last year!!
I hope for either “Wrecking Crew”,, “First Step Into the Faith”, or “Mesterverk”. Great songs 🙂
Nothing ever knocked us over has to be the most cliché Eurovision song ever. It sounds like the outro song from the wiwibloggs videos… oh no, I didn’t.
But in all honesty, I think this year is lacking a cliché, lively song like that to balance things out.
12. Nothing Ever Knocked Us Over
10. First Step In Faith
8. Ammunition
7. I Go Where You Go
6. Mesterverk
5. Places
4. Grab The Moment
3. Run Run Away
2. Mama’s Boy
1. You and I
1. i go where you go
2. you and i
3. places
4. mama boy
One of these songs and they got a very small chanche to qualify, but better than none.
Don’t get the hate for these songs, I think there are many great ones! Here are my favs in order of first to last :
1) Places (Ulrikke)
2) Wrecking Crew
3) First step in faith
4) Nothing Ever Knocked Us Over
5) Mama’s boy
6) Mestervek
7) I go where you go
8) Grab the moment
9) You & I
10) Run run away
Mama’s boy is catchy and modern song, with fun and clever lyrics. It’s the only one like beside Places.
Honestly I prefer eliminated songs in Spain and Switzerland to these..
Is there anything more generic than that In Fusion song? lol
@Aaran – Thank you 🙂
Very average NF… what is happening to the nordics? First Finland now Norway smh
Anyways, I kinda like Ella – “Mama’s Boy” because it’s catchy and the Saami song is interesting I guess, but overall not an impressive year for Norway…
all songs are bad
Either Ammunition or Elin & the Woods. That uninspired Ulrikke song can stay in Norway.
After snippets of 30 song my favorite was Amina, Ella and Kristian, but after listen full version of all song, I m dissapointed in Amina song.
My TOP 3
1.Ella
2.Jenny
3.In Fusion
I predict winner in 2013,2015 (that was also my favorite), and my favorite was 2nd in 2014 and 4th in 2016.
@Colin The full version of the songs are available. Try this link:

Several of the songs sound promising, but these are only 30 second snippets. I cannot form an actual opinion on who should win on that short snippets. Jenny’s song can’t even by played in my country, it seams.
Ulrikke – Places may be Norway’s only hope of qualifying to the final considering last year’s effort.
Am i the only one who loves i mean LOVES Ella- Mama’s Boy?
Her or Elin deserves the victory obv
Amina or Elin are the best. Ulrikke is okay but very basic. Jenny isn’t bad either but her voice is kinda odd. I like Ella a bit too. The others are all horrible.
Ulrikke – “Places” the only good choice for Norway this year.
Can we expect some kind of reaction video of the songs? 🙂
