When Australian broadcaster SBS announced that the country was going to stage their first ever national final for Eurovision, we all got a bit excited. That excitement amplified when the participating artists were gradually revealed.

One notable contestant in Australia Decides 2019 is RuPaul’s Drag Race finalist and Celebrity Big Brother 2018 champion Courtney Act. She will be singing the dance-floor banger “Fight for Love” and recently released a music video for the song.

“Fight for Love” — Courtney Act

The music video is high impact and sultry. It features striking fast-paced choreography and a wide range of ultra-modern, high fashion looks. This complements the song quite well, giving us an impression of what Courtney Act may bring to the Gold Coast stage.

Talking about her song, she says, “A sweet 16 years after Australian Idol, I have the chance to show Australia how I have grown as an artist and performer and I am so excited! To compete to represent Oz in Eurovision is second only to being on that stage in Tel Aviv and singing my lungs out for my country. “Fight for Love” is a dance floor banger all about coming together and fighting for the things we believe in. I think it’s so important to think about the basic human rights of others and to use our collective voices, minds and bodies to lift those people up and bring about change.”

Who is Courtney Act?

Courtney Act is one of the first artists to showcase the art of drag during the first season of Australian Idol. On that show, Courtney showed the judges much more than her music ability. In 2014, she returned to television as one of the top three in the sixth season of the Emmy Award-winning RuPaul’s Drag Race. In 2018, she entered the Celebrity Big Brother UK house and won the competition. Courtney is currently the host of the first bisexual dating show The Bi Life airing on the E! channel worldwide. She also recently presented her own Christmas TV special, Courtney Act’s Christmas Extravaganza, airing on Channel 4 on Christmas Eve 2018.

What do you think of “Fight for Love” and its music video? Are you hoping she’ll beat the competition and win Australia Decides? Let us know in the comment section down below!

The Sheppard song is out on Australian iTunes. Can hear a snippet on there but hopefully it will be on YouTube soon-ish.

I love Courtney since drag race ,but we all know her voice is nothing out of the ordinary live and even tho I’m a fan, judging the song as it is ,it’s pretty generic. Electric Fields have a much better song and live performance tbh

Courtney Act is a great perfomer, if she can sing well in the NF, I think she will be choose by the popular vote (remember she won a lot of realitys in the past years), but also is truth that this song is really generic and there is better stuff in the Australian NF

Oh NO, don’t do this to us, Australia – thanks in advance.

Much better than I thought it would be. But I think it will only work if the live vocals can be delivered. What date is this show on please?

It will take place on Saturday, February 9th. To go further, if the show starts at 7pm in Australia, it would be watched from 9am in Greenwich.

That’s super helpful Loin dici! Very excited now that I have heard the entry from Sheppard too

Oh the music video just got me to think off Kylies “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” – I guess it the colour scheme of red and white used in this video that does so, as well as the song sounding like something from year 2000 instead of 2019. I am fairly confident that this will not represent Australia as there are far better songs in the competition, but it is enjoyable and will add to a great show when the final is aired 🙂

The Australians have a lot of good songs and singers to chose from. So they hopefully will not waste their chance like this.

Not knowing how Australia will vote at this NF is really scary cause if they kill off all their good songs for some generic BS i legit swear to god..

You people hate this while many of you glorify Kerrie-Anne’s version of Sweet Lies. I don’t get you people anymore.

True. Both this and Kerrie-Anns “Sweet Lies” sounds super dated. Both of them want to be dance floor bangers but only if we turn back time 20 years for this one and 30 years for Kerrie-Ann.

That’s becaurse Kerrie-Anne is the best we can muster in the UK and unfortunately is the best of a bad bunch. This however is the worst of a really good bunch. Both Kerrie-Ann and Cortney however are equal in stature.

Interesting,it’s also a good, good video.

I’m with the underdog Leea Nanos BTW.

Leea Nanos is great. I think so far she is the frontrunner to represent Australia. I still prefer Electric Fields but I fear it is a too difficult song to perform well live so it will crash… So it’s between Leea and whatever Sheppards come up with 🙂

OK, this is all fine and such, but I still think there are stronger acts in the Oz national final…Electric Fields and maybe Sheppard come to mind…choose wisely, Australia!

Please let her not win because of LGBT issues (and I am bisexual myself). Kate Miller-Heidke, Marc Vincent and Electric Fields have much more interesting entries.

Oh hell no. This NF has decent acts, why choose this?

News about Ella Hopper and Kate Miller-Heidke’s respective entries came out on January 24 last week. Sheppard’s entry will be out on February 1 so expect news about that to be out as well around that time.

Articles coming out when much of Europe is asleep are done by members of the editorial team based in Australia/New Zealand.

Why you get news about Australia within a span of one or two days is because they would come out in what is typically regular working hours on this side of the globe. Hence you waking up at this particular time with the Wiwibloggs site filled with two Aussie-related items if you live somewhere in Europe.

I don’t think it’s what she meant…Why do they write ONLY about Courtney and not about other australian acts?

Reposting from an earlier comment I made: News about Ella Hopper and Kate Miller-Heidke’s respective entries came out on January 24 last week. Sheppard’s entry will be out on February 1 so expect news about that to be out as well around that time. All the news items mentioned above were reported here in the site over the past two weeks. News about Courtney Act alone came out these past 24 hours with probably all TV news websites in Australia reporting about her DWTS casting (my only source for Australia TV news though is TV Tonight AU and they had… Read more »

She won’t win with that song in a really strong national selection. Kate Miller-Heidke, Electric Fields and other seasoned performers will destroy her chance of winning.

Bilal won DE with one of the most generic songs of that strong NF.

Bilal has a crazy fanbase in France but I don’t think Courtney has that in Australia.
