With two successful shows behind it — the second live episode collected 9,144,000 viewers and an audience share of 47.3%. — Sanremo 2019 moved on to the third night.
The hours of broadcasting are endless, but they’re not lacking energy, for sure!

The other half of the 24 contestants — the names from which Italy’s Eurovision 2019 artist will be chosen — performed their entries to the viewers for the second time.
A never-ending list of guest performers caught viewers’ attention. Eurovision 1987 acts Raf and Umberto Tozzi slayed with a medley of their hits, including the well-known “Gente di mare”, their Eurovision entry. What a perfect way to remind us that there are only #100DaystoEurovision!

Antonello Venditti performed his signature songs “Sotto il segno dei pesci” e “Notte prima degli esami”, while Alessandra Amoroso celebrated the first 10 years of her career by singing “Dalla tua parte” and “Io che non vivo”.
Towards the end of the evening, Fabio Rovazzi rocked the stage with his platinum hits “Andiamo a comandare” and “Faccio quello che voglio”, followed by actress Serena Rossi who paid homage to the late singer and Eurovision 1977 and 1992 act Mia Martini singing “Almeno tu nell’universo”. She plays the role of Mimì in the biopic Io sono Mia.
But the highlight of the night was the little sketch between Italian music legend Ornella Vanoni — who competed last year with the touching “Imparare ad amarsi” — and the co-hostess Virginia Raffaele. The two offered ten minutes of laughter and fun, awakening a slightly drowsy audience. Their jokes broke the internet giving life to hundreds of memes!

Sanremo’s third night
Top-ranked entries
- Simone Cristicchi – Abbi cura di me
- Irama – La ragazza con il cuore di latta
- Mahmood – Soldi
- Ultimo – I tuoi particolari
Middle-ranked entries
- Motta – Dov’è l’Italia

Bottom-ranked entries
- Boomdabash – Per un milione
- Nino D’Angelo e Livio Cori – Un’altra luce
- Patty Pravo con Briga – Un po’ come la vita
- Anna Tatangelo – Le nostre anime di notte
We think you’ve now learned the lesson, but there’s always time for a quick reminder: this is not the definitive ranking of the third night. To keep us in suspense until Saturday, the organisers have decided to show us just the results of ONE voting jury each night. For the third night it was again the turn of the voting jury poll.
Tomorrow evening, the 24 contestants will sing their original entries together with other artists. Among the singers we’ll see on stage, several former Sanremo participants, such as Noemi, Irene Grandi, Nada, Giovanni Caccamo and Rocco Hunt, and three former Eurovision acts: Enrico Ruggeri, Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro.
Also British songwriter Jack Savoretti and Tony Hadley, leader of the ’80s pop band Spandau Ballet, are heading to the Ariston Theatre.
How will the Sanremo winner be picked?
Voting during the five evenings will occur through different combinations of four methods:
- Public televoting, carried out via landline, mobile phone, the contest’s official mobile app, and online voting.
- Press jury voting, expressed by accredited journalists that followed the competition from the Roof Hall at the Ariston Theatre.
- A demoscopic poll, composed of a sample of 300 music fans, which voted from their homes via an electronic voting system managed by Ipsos.
- Expert jury voting, resulting from points assigned by eight personalities from the world of music, entertainment and culture.
The three voting systems will have a percentage weight so distributed:
- First, Second and Third Evening: 40% public televoting; 30% demoscopic poll; 30% press jury voting
- Fourth and Fifth Evening: 50% public televoting; 30% press jury voting; 20% expert jury voting
In the final part of the fifth evening, a new rank indicating the top three acts — determined by the percentage of votes obtained in this evening’s vote and those obtained in previous evenings — will be drawn up.

#TEAMAHMOOD
Irama has an incredible song. I hope that he will represent Italy, maybe they will again be in the top 5
Finally some love for Mahmood.
i want him to win!!! so.bad.
#MahmoodIsMyMood
I am rooting for Simone! It seems that I am in a minority here, but the man makes me cry! (in a good way of course 😉 ) In second place, Mahmood, for its originality and freshness.
I also love Simone’s entry, L’oiseau! I just think Irama and Mahmood (the rest of my top 3) would do better than him in Eurovision, but I would be happy if he wins, his song is pure poetry.
I absolutely agree with you, Sabrina, that Simone won’t do as well as Irama and Mahmood in Eurovision… But, hey , many were saying the exact same thing about Salvador in 2017 during the FdC and rooting for Viva La Diva… 🙂
You have a point. I wanted Salvador to win FdC, but I would never expect him to win the whole thing months late. So… who knows?
Again… The only women taking part bottom ranked… They really do not like women in Italy.
Loredana is doing pretty well…
irama was the best. his voice is limited but the gospel choir doesn’t overshadow him. lyrics are corny but the song is overall good. ultimo, on the other hand, is struggling hard with those screeches and with that limited vocal range….. that’s what u get for chainsmokin
Any chance where I can watch the full performance of Marco Megoni and Tom Walker? I can’t find it on Rai’s website.
Nevermind. I found one website

Mahmood wrote this song, Hola…
100% Team Irama. Great guy with a meaningful song, I hope he wins. <3
Those talking verses are pure poetry though, that’s why that get highly appreciated ( I’m speaking in general, not only about Irama). Simone Cristicchi has already won Sanremo once with a similar song with a lot of talking, like a melodic poetry I’d say, but that one gives you chills. Italians pay a lot of attention to the quality of the lyrics, sometimes more than the music and composition itself maybe.
I wish every country national selection paid the same attention that Italians and Portuguese songwriters normally give to their lyrics. There are good written songs here and there, but not in the same amount as in Sanremo and Festival da Canção.
Yesss, my three favourites !!!
Although, for me, Mahmood’s song >>>> Ultimo’s and Irama’s
his vocals ruin it imo. give it to someone who can sing n it’ll be a masterpiece.
Mahmood sings very well
I am absolutely in love with Mahmood and Irama’s songs. Irama can easily be Top 3 in Tel Aviv, such a beautiful melody and the gospel gives me goosebumps. But I actually prefer Mahmood, what an original and refreshing song for Italy, with an important mesage, and the lyrics! Please Italy choose one of these two
By the way, I like the look of the stage this year. From the defolding staircase to the swinging front-row seats below the main stage. I’m not sure if it’s a good idea for anyone to be sitting there with the constant back and forth that could anyone feel carsick/nauseous.
I sorta fancy 2017’s stage as well, where the Ariston stage looked like something you’d see in a repurposed old warehouse.
No doubt that Claudio Baglioni is a big star in Italy. I really like his opening numbers from both Nights 2 and 3 (“Noi no”, and “Viva l’Inghilterra”).
😀
Rooting for Mahmood! Will be kinda cool to see two Arabs in Tel Aviv this May.
Three of you count GR host Lucy Ayoub
1.7 million if u count all the arabs who live in israel
Ukraine’s Khayat is also half-Arab.
Well, talking verses and rap are clearly not a problem to the press jury, since besides Irama they also ranked Silvestri, Cristicchi and Mahmood high. I guess Il Volo’s problem here is a different one: everyone will compare it with “Grande amore”. Those are the perks of having a successful record in the contest, you fight your own past before fighting the other opponents.
I agree with these 4 best ranked. So I guess me and the press jury are on the same page.
Jeez, these Italian guys are hot! Sergey will have some competition this year.
we have that hot belgian twink n u still thinkin bout that jawless russian? i-
Honestly there are some snacks competing at Sanremo this year.
It’s quite annoying that RAI doesn’t upload any of the participants’ second performances on neither their on-demand service or even on Youtube for those who didn’t catch it live apart from the entire episode of the songfest itself. I would have liked to compare and contrast their first and second performances of their respective entries.
You can see the performances on RaiPlay https://www.raiplay.it/
Yeah, I’m watching the show right now there. I’m sad though they don’t have separate videos for the performances themselves for Nights 2 and 3.
Probably the first poll that is pretty close to what it should be. Still wish Francesco Renga was amongst the top group though!
