She’s one of Albania’s most respected singer-songwriters. Hailing from Kosovo, Rona Nishliu gave Albania a respectable top five finish during one of the toughest editions of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012. Since then, she has mentored upcoming stars on The Voice of Albania and was a special guest at Destination Eurovision 2019. And now, the “Suus” singer has dropped a new music video for her latest single “Me lule t’bukra” (“With flowers”).

The music video, which is directed by Alban Zogjani, is shot in what appears to be an abandoned warehouse. It features a ballerina exploring the space and a deeply expressive Rona Nishliu channeling elegance and grace in a high-couture red ball gown. You need to see the train to believe it – it screams Miss Grand International!

The song itself is the second cut from her new LP, titled MINDIL (Handkerchief), which was released earlier this year.

Rona Nishliu Quartet – “Me lule t’bukra”

Speaking exclusively to wiwiwbloggs, Rona explains:

The Rona Nishliu Quartet’s second music album titled MINDIL (Handkerchief) brings ten old songs rearranged in experimental jazz versions, dating from different time periods and presenting different schools of music. In addition to  songs from Kosovo and Albania, the album presents a Roma song and a Balkan song made famous by the Roma Queen Esma Redzepova. This album was recorded live.

“Me lule t’bukra” is the second song published with a music video, composed by an old respected composer and musician from North Albania, Tish Daija, and brought into a sentimental contemporary jazz mood. The song talks about a great love and the burning of the longing for the dearest person. It means a lot to me.

What do you think of Rona Nishliu’s jazz covers? Do you like her experimental jazz sounds? What do you think of the music video to Me lule t’bukra”? Let us know in the comments section below.

She’s so incredible. We are so lucky to have such amazing jazz artists like Rona, Salvador, Gualazzi (and more) in the Eurovision stage…
