She’s the bubbly pop star that’s played some sort of role at UMK almost every year since 2013. But will Krista Siegfrids be gracing the set of Finland’s Eurovision selection in 2020?
Our Dayana caught up with her in Helsinki just before the Christmas holidays and asked her exactly that.

Krista’s response was short and sweet: “We’ll see! I cannot tell you anything yet”.
When pressed further about whether she could be hosting or performing, the “Marry Me” singer smirks cheekily and says “secrets”.
However, she does concede that “I love UMK and I love Eurovision so much. Let’s hope I’ll be there”.
For someone who’s supposedly unsure about whether she’ll be involved in UMK 2020 or not, Krista has certainly been following it keenly.
She quickly rattles off the key facts about the revamped national final — UMK 2020 is an open contest, six artists will compete, over 400 songs were submitted.
On the changes, she says “I think that’s going to be very interesting. Also interesting for people to follow again and see who’s going to win. It makes it exciting”.
Krista’s official lines may be brief, but if we were to read between them, we’d be putting our money on seeing her appear in some shape or form during the 2020 show.
After all, she’s only missed one edition since winning it in 2013. In 2014 she performed as part of the opening act, while she has hosted the contest every year since 2016.
We’ll find out all when the six Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2020 finalists are announced at a special event on Tuesday 21 January 2020. At the same time, the names of the ten UMK selection jury members will be released.

Dayana caught Krista at a pop-up store for the singer’s new fashion line.
The “Faller” hitmaker has partnered with online fashion site Pre-o-Porter to design a stunning new collection that oozes her signature sass and positivity. The songstress is definitely turning up the heat this winter!
Designed around the idea that “life is a celebration”, the collection included ten pieces from a black velvet mini dress to a multi-colour sequin party number.

I think she will be compiting this year
I really love Krista. Marry Me was probably the worst song she’s ever put out so I would like her to get a second chance but I don’t think she’ll compete again; she’ll probably continue hosting though I’d say.
I like her personality, but her two MF entries were seriously nothing to write home about. So if she returns as a contestant, I hope she’s got something a little fresher in her bag.

Go, as in step down from her role as the host. She’s one of the reasons why UMK is seen in such negative light here nowadays.
