We already know that Israel’s Netta Barzilai is a unique artist, and yet again hasn’t failed to surprise fans with her latest creation. After going viral on TikTok with her Eurovision-winning song “Toy”, she has now grabbed her looper and taken a crazy spin on the iconic song from Mary Poppins, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”.

Rocking a white princess dress with flowing purple tresses, Barzilai has clearly made Julie Andrews’ classic musical tune one of her own.

Netta shared her enthusiasm for the project, writing, “When Disney Music gives you the opportunity to put a spin on an iconic Disney song, you don’t turn it down! This was so much fun, thanks for having me!”

The performance was done as part of the Disney Singalong series, where well-known performers deliver covers of Disney classics. The Disney Music account shared the performance, writing “Betcha’ve never heard “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” performed like THIS before! Rock on, @NettaBarzilai. We’re OBSESSED.”

“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” is a song from the classic 1964 musical film Mary Poppins. The song was originally performed by the film stars Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.

The term “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” is a made-up word which predates the film. But it does have meaning — it’s a compound word made up of: super- “above”, cali- “beauty”, fragilistic- “delicate”, expiali- “to atone”, and -docious “educable”. All together it means “Atoning for educability through delicate beauty” — but it’s more used to mean fantastic!

And Netta certainly delivers a fantastic performance. She takes the familiar hook of the song, mixes up with some hip hop beats and layers of her vocal goodness.

Netta debuts her band with mini concert

At the same session, Netta also recorded a mini-concert with her band. She explained the plan had to been to have live tour, but like a lot of things this year, the pandemic put a stop to that.

Instead Netta gathered her new band together to play some of her best-known songs. Netta and her musicians give unique live performances of “Bassa Sababa”, “Nana Banana”, “Ricki Lake”, “Cuckoo” and — of course — her Eurovision winning tune “Toy”.

Do you like Netta’s Disney cover? What other songs should she tackle with her looper? Sound off in the comments below!

What nonsense is this: “The term “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” is a made-up word which predates the film. But it does have meaning — it’s a compound word made up of: super- “above”, cali- “beauty”, fragilistic- “delicate”, expiali- “to atone”, and -docious “educable”. All together it means “Atoning for educability through delicate beauty” — but it’s more used to mean fantastic!”?

Clearly, someone thinks they know American pop culture, but doesn’t. The actual definition is THIS: adjective(used as a nonsense word by children to express approval or to represent the longest word in English.) from https://www.dictionary.com/browse/supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
