VICTORIA’s epic Eurovision 2021 journey continues. On Monday, VICTORIA shared “Dive Into Unknown” — the third song in the running to represent Bulgaria at Eurovision 2021. This is also the second track from VICTORIA’s upcoming debut EP a little dramatic.
Listen: VICTORIA — “Dive Into Unknown” (Potential Eurovision 2021 song)
“To dive into the unknown and to take a risk even though you are not sure where the path will lead you” is the message of VICTORIA’s newest song. The second track on her upcoming EP a little dramatic, “Dive Into Unknown” is VICTORIA’s third potential Eurovision 2021 song following “UGLY CRY” and “Imaginary Friend”.
“Dive Into Unknown” is one of the songs penned at the Black Sea Eurovision Songwriting Camp. The event hosted in the Bulgarian towns of Burgas and Primorsko brought together a number of successful Eurovision songwriters to work on tracks for Eurovision 2021. VICTORIA wrote “Dive Into Unknown” alongside Borislav Milanov and Lucas Oscar from Symphonix International — the same team behind her Eurovision 2020 entry “Tears Getting Sober”. Also credited on the track are songwriters Pauline Skött and Peter St. James.
“The song was inspired by the beauty and calm of the sea”, VICTORIA says. “Together with Borislav and Lucas, we were looking for inspiration by listening to the sounds of the sea and staring at it from a distance. Then, Lucas played the first piano chords of the song and it was magical moment. I think we created a really beautiful song.”
Coming soon: VICTORIA’s other potential Eurovision songs
On Tuesday 16 February, VICTORIA will release “Phantom Pain”. The lyric video will premier at 19:00 CET on eurovision.icard.com and VICTORIA’s YouTube channel.
After all the songs are released, the Bulgarian Eurovision team will launch a special online platform to allow music fans around the world to leave comments and feedback about VICTORIA’s six potential songs for Rotterdam. This will be part of Bulgaria’s internal selection process and will ultimately inform the song decision for Eurovision 2021. Additionally, VICTORIA and her team will also look for feedback from focus groups of music, TV, radio and Eurovision experts to make their final decision.
What do you think of “Dive Into Unknown”? Should VICTORIA sing it for Bulgaria at Eurovision 2021? Sound off in the comments below.
I’m getting Lana Del Rey vibes, I enjoy it a lot!
This genius subtle rhyming: ‘mind – blind-ly’ and ‘pois-on – noise’. Ugh. Marvellous!
Sorry everyone. Can’t get over the fact that I am completely amazed by this track. Those who read my comments know that I prefer bangers and bops. But this soothing ballad is just beautiful. It uplifts you. So dreamy.
Apologies.
My top 3:
My tip on what’ll get sellected: Dive Into Unknown or Ugly Cry.
Still – I like all 3 more than the last year one.
I’m hopeful that one of the other three songs are THE song because no disrespect to Victoria but none of these have that magic combination of lending itself to a big stage moment and being unique enough to ensure engagement. They all need more of a melodic hook so that we are singing along rather than just listening.
Other than ugly cry they are like lullabies. If you had to watch them in a national final contest one after the other you would be asleep by the end.
I liked this very much , but none of her songs are not as strong as Tears Getting Sober. It’s like Imaginary Friend , this song and next songs are like parts of a puzzle , but not strong one by one. I wish they have tried to make only one song , maybe they could work for months and they could make a new Tears Getting Sober. If they revamp Dive Into Unknown , this can be more like Tears Getting Sober. With more instrumental and chorus
Very impressed with the song, but Ugly Cry has more pop melody, I think it will be more popular for the viewers. This song is also good, it shows deep emotion..
ugly cry is only bit longer then 3 min so it has to be shortened
No tea no shade. She is a very talented artist but those songs are not appeared to be very original. Maybe she keeps the strong songs for last
So far I like all of Victoria’s songs.
My top 3:
I’m speechless! This song is magical.
It’s the same old Billie whispering for me..
Can she get any more predictable?
There is no originality in music! Everything start from something! Plus it is not bad thing to inspired by an artist. And Billie Ellish is a great inspiration
There’s a fine line between inspiration amd ripping somebody’s whole style, image, aesthetics off…
Exactly
I like every song of the EP so far (including this), but my only concern is the length of each song in the EP. she say that those songs are “potential” for Eurovision, but even the length is by itself not Eurovision (too far over three minutes, just like Ukraine’s Shum). I am glad that this particular song “dive into unknown” is gettting nearer to it, and I hope the next songs are all by themselves in Eurovision length, like Tears Getting Sober.
If you chop the instrumental coda off, “Dive Into Unknown” comes in at EXACTLY three minutes.
Bulgaria is good at teh hype. It sounds like some of you even think that they haven’t already picked the song!
I do agree that all three of Victoria’s song have blended into one for me and Ugly cry being a bit faster paced stands out to me currently. But tears getting sober was liked by me and my reactions to these two have been ” uhmmmmmmmmmmm , hopefully she has a better one in the pocket “
I loved Tears Getting Sober but with each subsequent song I find myself liking Victoria less and less. It’s hard not to be influenced by someone else but it’s unacceptable to totally rip someone off. If it were only the songs that sounded quite similar it wouldn’t be that bad. Last year many said Roxen’s song sounded like it was written for Billie but unlike Victoria, Roxen has a signature sound. Victoria took Billie’s half whisper singing, her fry, her gliding into notes and most importantly her vibrato. Why would I care about a knockoff when the original has so… Read more »
Finally someone said this. I agree 100%
I’m gonna have to agree on this one. No offence to Victoria, I think she’s a super talented girl, but something about all of this feels… off. Doing the same genre of music as Billie is one thing, but imitating her vocal technique is a bit much. Like, does she think the ESC audience is so out of touch with the current trends that we’ve never heard of Billie Eilish? Wasn’t she aware of all the inevitable comparisons? If that’s the genre she wants to do, that’s cool, but she needs to develop her own vocal style; otherwise, people won’t… Read more »
Imitation is the sincerest form of Eurovision.
BTW, if you’re going to bitch about blatant imitation, then I don’t want to hear one damn word about Melodifestivalen ever again.
What does Malodifestivalen have to do with anything? Oh, it’s the old ,,when you run out of arguments just complain about Swedish songs sounding American” thing even though it’s only logical because they are written by Swedes! I’m not even remotely related to Sweden in any way but I have no trouble admitting that they have a better pop scene and producers than almost any other country. I don’t like copycats no mattter their origin. I disliked how Julia Alfrida’s Rich sounded like they were desperately trying to make a sequel to Lorde’s Royals but at least she maintained her… Read more »
On the back of my 2 comments below now I’ve had a chance to listen to it a few times. Lyrically this song is as beautiful as it is melodically. It put a tear in my eye. Not the sad one though. I feel melancholic listening to this tune. If I close my eyes I can picture myself on a quiet beach at the sunset, just relaxing, making every worry and upset melt away, letting everything around me be a blur, so I understand where she’s coming from saying that the song was inspired by the calmness of the sea.… Read more »
Meh!
Mom, can we have Billie Eilish?
Mom: We have Billie Eilish at home.
Billie Eilish at home: VICTORIA
Although there hasn’t been anything bad released, this is the first genuine candidate for Victoria’s ESC-song for me. This would be pretty competitive.
You know you could add a little diversity to your selection, right? These all sound the same tbh
Winner material
Choose Ugly Cry and move on. Dotter’s coming real strong this year, these melancholic lullabies can’t compete with just a dark scenery, except only playing for a safe Top 10.
So well produced. I’m loving this.
I prefer this song over Ugly Cry and Imaginary Friend. Even if Ugly Cry has that special dark-sounding undertone which makes it awkward and likeable at the same time, it doesn’t sound like a song I would like Victoria to go with. Imaginary Friend on the other hand has it’s simplicity, the dreamy-pop-elements and cozyness, which makes it hard to stage and to leave an impact. Dive Into Unknown combines the dreamy-angel-choir/early-disney-song-elements, which fitted well in Tears Getting Sober but this time it’s musically more dynamic and shows of Victorias strenghts in her voice, which was not really the case… Read more »
I want to wait until all of her songs are out, but this is very nice.
The best for the moment but I’m waiting for more as she was my 2nd favorite last year. As long as she keeps a piano intro there is chance for me to be happy.
I adore this title but as a song I prefer the previous 2. So far I’m leaning towards Imaginary Friend I think. I am waiting anxiously for the other songs.
So she has a very clear art style and sound preference by the looks of it but you know what? That’s okay and it’s not the end of the world.
I think of the three we heard so far this one is probably the best one to me personally, but there is another three songs to go and chances are we have still not heard the Eurovision song yet.
Billie Eilish
So tired with Victoria’s potential same songs!!
I really can’t take any of the people saying all the songs sound the same seriously… It shouldn’t require you to be a professional or anything to recognize how different they all are. You don’t even need to like them, but they sure as heck aren’t similar sounding.
It is a no brainer to understand that neither of the songs is the same. The people who do think they are the same just want to be dumb.
Songs sound all the same, emo and depressing. Jesus…
Victoria is definitely developing a penchant for the twisted lullaby. This is another strong effort, I think I like it marginally more than Imaginary Friend. Something tells me that we also have something big still to come. These are exciting times!
Isn’t it my tears richochet by taylor swift?
They’re not bad, but these songs sound all the same to me.
How do you feel about The Roop?
These all sound so same to each other, lacking something that would make it more heartfelt and pure. It’s like a microwave dinner compared to a home made, just needs to be more authentic.
So far Ugly Cry is the best of the bunch
If you’re looking for authenticity in Eurovision you’re in the wrong place. We’ve had a good streak of authentic winners in the 2010’s with a few exceptions but we gotta remember that a lot of the music is done by near-literal factories of music production and are just given to an artist they think it might fit, even if in practice it’s clear it doesn’t feel authentic at all. At least Victoria pens a lot of her songs herself, which is already more than a lot of other artists do. Måns’ Heroes? Song from the Debs, not really a show… Read more »
Alex, why you even watch Eurovision, if you bash on all the contestants and say Eurovision is a crapfest? 😀 What the hell Alex! LEAVE
If that is what you somehow gathered from my comment, then you need to hone your reading/english comprehension skills.
Every single song by Victoria is a lullaby. I guess this is her style of singing.
Very beautiful music, i think that Victoria has a very good team and whatever song they choose, Bulgaria will get a decent result.
Victoria is incapable of releasing a bad song!!! Brilliant as always. 🙂
I loved this one! It hit me immediately like it happened to “Tears Getting Sober”, I love this combination of haunting and sweet. In terms of lyrics, it even works like a sequel to her intended entry for 2020. My favorite so far.
This one! This is it.
(so far) the best for sure.
I love “Dive Into Unknown” very much. For me it ‘s the best of 3 so far
The lyrics are really good- this song really speaks compared to some of the other songs already confirmed for Rotterdam. I think this is the strongest of the three releases so far but I believe there is even more quality from Victoria to be shared.
Best of the three. Great lyrics. I still think the best is yet to come.
This is absolutley beautiful, wow! But I fell in love with Imaginary Friend and I think I prefer it to this one. And Ugly Cry is so good too. Bulgaria do what you want, they’re all so good
this is my favorite so far. every single one of the songs in this selection have been better than tears getting sober in my opinion. i can’t wait for growing up is getting old, its a really clever title and i think she might be saving the best for last
if this was a proper national final it would be the strongest
Pass me something to kill myself with, this is s-o horrible, this is called music?
Sending you lots of positive vibes, Robert. You clearly need it.
OMG. This is stunning.
I absolutely love it! Stunningly beautiful melodic runs. That’s the reaction as I’m listening to it for the first time at the very moment.
I’ll try to analyse the lyrics later. I’m in complete awe of the music right now.
Hats off to the composers. I heard it only once, went to do the dishes and I was whistling the melody all the way. That’s how you recognise a surefire hit.
Do I want it at ESC? Let’s wait and hear the rest of the offerings.
Stunning! The best song so far. Lyrics is so good!
