Dotter Melodifestivalen 2021 Grand Final Rehearsal
Photo: Stina Stjernkvist / SVT

National final season concludes tonight with the grand final of Melodifestivalen 2021. There are 12 acts set to take to the stage in Stockholm and compete for the right to represent Sweden at Eurovision 2021. But only one will walk away with the ticket to Rotterdam.

Earlier this week, we asked you to vote for your favourites of the 12 competing acts and who you thought should win Melfest 2021. You responded to our call and made sure your voices were heard.

After counting a total of 4,777 votes, we can now reveal the results.

Dotter is your favourite to win Melodifestivalen 2021

Coming out on top is Dotter. This marks the second year in a row that the Swedish star has finished first in our Melfest grand final poll. While the ‘Dotterdam’ dream didn’t happen last year, it seems that y’all are still very much hoping it will become a reality in 2021.

Dotter’s new song “Little Tot” picked up 1,408 votes in the poll. This is equivalent to 29.74% of the total number of votes cast.

In second place is Eurovision 2011 star Eric Saade. He returns for his fourth appearance at Melodifestivalen, and once again he’s one of the favourites ahead of the final. Eric’s entry “Every Minute” picked up 970 votes (20.31% of the total).

Earning the final podium spot in this poll are last year’s Melfest champions The Mamas. After Eurovision 2020 was cancelled, they’re hoping to earn the ticket to Rotterdam once again in order to finish off what they started. And it seems y’all think they have a reasonable shot at doing so – “In The Middle” was awarded 524 votes (10.97%).

Just missing out on a podium finish is Tusse. The Melfest debutant is the clear bookies’ favourite to win the competition this year with his song “Voices”. In this poll he secured 434 votes (9.09%).

And rounding out the top five is another debutant – Clara Klingenström. Despite having to go through andra chansen, Clara has been riding high on the Swedish charts along with the other big names from the contest. Could she become only the second Melodifestivalen act to win after having gone through the second chance round? “Behöver inte dig idag” received 393 votes in the poll (8.23%).

Full results: Who should win the grand final of Melodifestivalen 2021?

  1. Dotter – “Little Tot” 29.47%  (1,408 votes)
  2. Eric Saade – “Every Minute” 20.31%  (970 votes)
  3. The Mamas – “In The Middle” 10.97%  (524 votes)
  4. Tusse – “Voices” 9.09%  (434 votes)
  5. Clara Klingenström – “Behöver inte dig idag” 8.23%  (393 votes)
  6. Charlotte Perrelli – “Still Young” 4.84%  (231 votes)
  7. Danny Saucedo – “Dandi Dansa” 4.44%  (212 votes)
  8. Anton Ewald – “New Religion” 3.94%  (188 votes)
  9. Klara Hammarström – “Beat Of Broken Hearts” 3.45%  (165 votes)
  10. Paul Rey – “The Missing Piece” 2.26%  (108 votes)
  11. Arvingarna – “Tänker inte alls gå hem” 1.84%  (88 votes)
  12. Alvaro Estrella – “Baila Baila” 1.16%  (56 votes)

Total Votes: 4,777

What do you make of these poll results? Are you hoping Dotter will emerge victorious or are you supporting someone else in Melodifestivalen 2021? Sound off in the comments below!

very often the WiWI readers are way off the mark…tastes here do not reflect opinions in the world out there. I enjoy others’ opinions but I am aware of limits of predictive value.. Same with OGAE votes etc

Tusse is amazing. Great lyrics, definitley top 5 in Eurovision. My personal favorite was still Dotter, also great lyrics and great staging. So happy that Eric Saade didnt win with that lyrically cringy piece of music…

Now things are getting interesting because the juries have Sweden, Switzerland and France. Who do they vote first..that’s bad for them

I’m so glad for Tusse. A great song! But I’m even more glad that Dotter haven’t won. I hate that squeaky voice of her. Blargh.

Too bad the international juries are easily swayed by whom the bookies’ favorite is this year – Tusse. It could be a similar outcome to 2016 when Frans won where in a year filled with tons of veteran/comeback artists competing, Swedes tend to vote more for the debutants.

And shockingly he won with more jury points than mamas and dotter last year with their amazing stagings. Sigh, ill still root for Sweden tho.

I will never understand the hype around Tusse. Dont like neither the song nor the staging. But he will be a fair winner since both jury and televote wanted him. I just dont get it!

If Sweden sends Dotter, she can even win the Eurovision. Staging was fantastic, vocals not so strong as in SF but it can always be improved

I have to be honest, I know she won’t win, but some of those juror scores felt like sabotage as the staging was way better than the semi. I guess those technical issues may have truly impacted her.

Now I know too. I hope Eric wins because Dotter has no chances. I just don’t want Tusse to win. Mediocre song. It doesn’t deserve to win.

Personally, I would much rather have English subtitles, at least for Swedish songs, interval acts and introduction videos. Unlike ESC, Mello doesn’t really have empty spots that need to be filled. Just let us enjoy the original show in English 🙂

Without the official results being uploaded yet, it’s 100% sure that Albanian juries will give 12 points to Clara, because she sings in Swedish

Let Swedish public decide what they like and enjoy. Their choice.
Fandom might not agree but fandom taste don’t really know either what Europe will like on May.

I would be satisfied with any in the top 4, or in the top 5 (haven’t even heard Clara’s song yet, but I feel that she can deliver it really well).

I still worry about the live vocals of Eric Saade and Dotter though. The others I’m pretty sure that they will have no problem

Well we want Dotter, Clara, The mamas or even Eric. Sweden wants and will choose Tusse and I think that he will win by a landscape. Top 3 with juries in May( as every year for no reason) and bottom 10 from televote and Sweden will be 5-8 at the end. That sums it up

Sweden please choose Dotter, thanks

So fans thinks its between Dotter and Eric. But Swedes see it as between Tusse or Eric. Dotter isnt even talked about that much here. So what do fans see in Dotter that Swedes dont?

We know that Sweden prefers good looking male singers. But we fans just want a good song and we love Dotter. I think Sweden will do what Norway did and choose the most famous one rather than the best of them

Well, sending the best one is indeed a matter of taste. If a majority of people think Tusse is the best then he is the best. We send what we we think is the best, not what wiwiwfans tells us is the best. There is nothing that suggest Tusse will do bad just because fans don’t like it..

They see her song from last year that could have won the contest, so they’ll love whatever she puts out this year. That’s about it really. Huge step down from bulletproof. I still want it to win because I personally don’t resonate with Tusse or Saade, but it’s a really weak Melodifestivalen and liking her from last year is a deciding factor with these consistently B+ songs.

It will be between Eric and Tusse. Dotter is unfortunately not near the both of them in terms of Spotify & YouTube streams. Also Eric and Tusse are both still trending on YouTube weeks after their semi final. I guess the jury voting will have a big impact on who of them will win tonight!

I think what’s amazing about this final is how even it is in terms of songwriting. There’s not really a big stand-out track here. I even think that “Every Minute” might be the worst song in the final. So that leaves performance and choreography, where Dotter and Eric have an advantage. But, if you just want great vocals, it’s The Mamas (again) that might take it. I personally like listening to Clara’s Swedish song the most, and also Klara’s “Beat of Broken Hearts” is an excellent development of another idea (which I won’t mention here) – I like this entry… Read more »

I’d like to see some elevated stagings, improved vocals and surprises tonight! I don’t like the idea of landslide winning of Tusse. I want to see a competitive voting donated with lots of high quality interval acts and fun video clips. It is obvious that Tusse/Eric/Dotter/Mamas is gonna win and find a place at top 10 in May. Good luck to all contestants and may the best act win!

I just hope it’s one of the direct finalist except Tusse or the Mamas and if not Klara Klingeström. And that’s more than half of the competing songs in the final that I would pleased with. It’s not such an exigent wish. Why does the bookies favourite have to be one of the only two direct finalists that I don’t like?

I really have to say, that I just cannot see Dotter winning. I definitely think it’s Tusse or Eric who wins this Melodifestivalen. And Tusse probbaly has about 85% chance of winning against Eric. I fully agree Tusse’s song is a little too bland. After all, if we send that song, it just shows Sweden hasn’t learnt anything from the past 4 years. However, the swedish people have a large tendency of getting this uuh… big-hype around an artist. Like Frans in 2016 and Anna Bergendahl in 2010. I think it’s very clear how the televote will be: Tusse 1st,… Read more »

I’m simply confused about the over-exaggerated landslide victory that odds are expecting from Tusse. Like the song is good and he is a great performer but I simply don’t get how it’s so much better than the rest? Not to mention the eurofandom isn’t too fond of it from what I see (not nearly as much as The Mamas, Dotter, Eric, Clara, Danny etc.) He must be really loved in Sweden

It’s cause of the voting system I guess. Tusse is the one every age group will give high points to, while the lacks of Eric and Dotter probably won’t get a high amount of votes from the youngest and the elder people.
I think you can discard Dotter from the debate if you check plays on spotify and Eric has to win the jurors with a 10-15 points gap to Tusse I guess. Tusse will slay the televoters.

Unfortunately thats the point. Eurofandom is a huge minority compared to the common viewer/voter of National Finals like Melodifestivalen. I agree Tusse is ok, wouldn‘t be that mad if he wins it but I simply see other songs, that probably do better than him.
