After counting 3,876 votes, we can reveal that your winning Baltic act is…
“Discoteque” by The Roop is your favourite Eurovision 2021 entry from the Baltics
For the second year running, Lithuania’s The Roop are the clear regional favourite with our readers. Amassing more votes than the other two Baltic entries combined, The Roop dominated the poll. “Discoteque” earned 2,377 votes, equating to 61.33% of the vote.
The trio are also a favourite with the Wiwi Jury. Here’s what Robyn wrote ahead of their national final victory.
“Discoteque” is The Roop taking things to the next level. The song might sometimes feel like TikTok bait, but it’s clear that the song also alludes to the stress of being at home in lockdown when you’re desperate to just go out and dance. The song offers a solution to this dilemma — one lyric says it all “By dancing on my own / I’m healing wounded soul”, with the suggestions that come May, Europe may join in with dancing alone. The fun choreography and energy make “Discoteque” a pleasure to experience.
Taking second placed in the poll was Latvia’s Samanta Tīna. The star picked up 970 votes for her entry “The Moon Is Rising”. This equals 25.03% of the total number of votes cast.
Rounding out the results is Estonia’s Uku Suviste. Falling a fair bit behind the others, Uku earned 529 votes (13.64%) for his ballad “The Lucky One”.
