It’s arguably the kingpin of national final season. And, tonight, Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2022 returns for a new six-week run. As always, Swedish fans can catch the Eurovision selection by switching their televisions to SVT 1. Viewers elsewhere will need to head online.

Here’s when and how you can watch the first heat of Melfest 2022.

Heat one | Deltävling 1 — 5 February 2022

Time: 20:00 CET to 21:30 CET

The first heat of Mello 2022 will be streamed live on SVT Play. It will be available to watch worldwide. It will also remain online for catch-up viewing — but only for the weekend. On Monday, it will go offline until after the fourth heat.

The opening show will see seven acts perform. As always, the results will be determined solely by the viewing public through a mixture of app and phone votes. However, there will be some small tweaks as to how the voting will work.

There will be an initial round of voting where the entry with the most votes goes directly to the final. In the second round, the six remaining songs will vye for the last direct to final spot and two semi-final (formerly andra chansen) spots. For the first time, the full breakdown of the results, including points given out by each age group, will be shown on screen.

The running order is:

  1. Malou Prytz “Bananas”
  2. Theoz “Som du vill”
  3. Shirley Clamp “Let There Be Angels”
  4. Omar Rudberg “Moving Like That”
  5. Danne Stråhed “Hallabaloo”
  6. Cornelia Jakobs “Hold Me Closer”
  7. Robin Bengtsson “Innocent Love”

Melodifestivalen 2013, 2014 and 2016 singer Oscar Zia will be the main host.

good question! i will watch following: norway semi 4 (the strongest in my opinium but i am team hammer of thor). lithuania semi 2 (team monika here). estonia (metal, waterfall and the indieband). latvia team aminata especially after that lovely music video fresh at youtube now but i like also the wildcardwinner, zelma and the coco’nuts. at last we have of course sanremo in italy – ok,the winner seems to be locked nearly 100% but an event like this is rare and cult in europe – a must see – similar only albania with their live orchestra. so i must make decisions… Read more »
