Eurovision 2022 second rehearsals for Wednesday concluded with Portugal’s Maro. The Festival da Canção winner was originally due to rehearse “Saudade, Saudade” earlier in the afternoon, but the run through was delayed due to a COVID-19 case in the delegation. What did we think? Portugal’s Maro “Saudade, Saudade” — Eurovision 2022 second rehearsal
Padraig: It’s been a long day of rehearsals, so it’s fitting that Maro’s gentle lullaby brings proceedings to a close, even if that’s not how organisers initially intended things to go. And I mean lullaby in the best way possible. This isn’t a sleepy, dull number but rather a musical hug that embraces you with the warmth of a cosy blanket. Like in Portugal’s national final, the staging is minimalistic. Maro and her singers stand in a circle, facing inwards, singing to each other. The camera is mostly focused in on them, neatly avoiding the rainbow shaped elephant in the room. However, a few wide-angle shots do suggest that the Portuguse may have had something extra planned for the LED.
