Just two songs after Serbia, the Eurovision 2022 second rehearsals take yet another surreal twist with Georgia’s Circus Mircus. The mystery group performed “Lock Me In” on stage, with predictably zany results. What did we think? Let’s find out…
Georgia’s Circus Mircus “Lock Me In” — Eurovision 2022 second rehearsal
Padraig: “Lock Me In” is an acquired taste. You have to be either a fan of a very niche sub-genre of music or in the right frame of mind to enjoy it. And Circus Mircus come painfully close to transporting the audience to the latter camp. Their outfits are delightfully bizarre. The frontman is dressed like a steampunk Willy Wonka, the guitarist has a beard of flowers while another band member has some sort of jack-in-the-box strapped to his chest. Sadly, they’re tripped up by the confounded black hole at the back of the stage. Their attempts to hypnotise us into a psychedelic trance with pop art lips, bright pinks and other outlandish imagery are blocked by the big ball of darkness. They use the floor LEDs to stunning effect, but there are only so many aerial shots that they can use before reverting back to the main stage.

What do you think? How will Circus Mircus do in the semi-final? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
I think this is brilliant – I really hope they make the final
Actually, I don’t think those weird outfits are enough. They would need some full-grown spectacle to convince those their music can’t reach. But apparently, they don’t deliver it. I think their qualifying chances just took a dive.
This makes “the Eurovision is a joke” factual.
They’ve actually killed it with the staging here. I don’t know if it’s enough to elevate the song to the final, but I was worried this would come across as really cheap, tacky and corny, but they’ve done a great job with it.
I feel this is going to be a shock qualifier. I like the song, Georgia always does an awesome job with their entries, unique, different, and experimental. Love or hate! Good luck Georgia!
Of course I’m a fan. 🙂
They’ll get my vote if I’m voting in that Semi; I can’t remember which one i’m voting in.
I’ve seen other outlets say this is a sure qualifier. I don’t know. It’s just not my type of music. I’m actually amazed they sound exactly like the studio track. I guess this is the “weird” entry of this semi that can find itself into the final from all the “Eurovision is a joke” viewers.
If you don’t love Georgia at Eurovision, why are you even watching Eurovision?
This is great…and needed. Keep doing you, Georgia!
Even when Georgia is my last (They were last year lol) I still don’t want them to change. Georgia gives 0 fs which means if they ever win, it will be unintentional lol.
Yes, I love them!
My current predictions for Georgia’s placing in the semi is 17th, but will it stop me from giving them all of my 20 votes in the semi? No.
Awesome! 😀 I truly hope your prediction is wrong and somehoooow they manage to slip into the Grand Final, but yeah.
I hope you’re wrong & they sail through the semis. I’ll be voting for them too. It’s a brilliant sing & unlike anything else this year. It’s fresh, original & they seem great live. I’d love to go to one of their gigs.
(Apparently my autocorrect doesn’t like the word “gig” & wants me to give them a hug instead! Lol)
You can give them a hug in their gig then : )
