Albania in Junior Eurovision 2022: Kejtlin Gjata with “Pakëz Diell”
Junior Fest 2022 was the competition used to select Albania’s act for Junior Eurovision. The grand final saw 18 young performers compete with the hope of securing the ticket to Yerevan. The result was determined by a three-person jury consisting of Kejsi Tola (Eurovision 2009), Efi Gjika (Junior Eurovision 2018) and Anna Gjebrea (Junior Eurovision 2021). In the end, it was Kejtlin Gjata who emerged as the winner.
Kejtlin hails from Durrës in Albania. A city by the coast, it means she’s used to being next to the sea and she enjoys this connection with nature.
The young singer draws musical inspiration from acts including Adele, Paloma Faith, and Josh Groban.
What do the “Pakëz Diell” lyrics mean?
“Pakëz Diell” translates to “A Little Bit of Sunshine” in English. Kejtlin sings about offering this small amount of light to someone in need during periods of darkness.
The verses set the scene for the arrival of night time. As the moon rises into the sky, Kejtlin confesses to the celestial body that she wishes the world would extinguish the fire of destruction that has consumed so many:
I pray for you, I would share the world with you
You feel me from beyond, the moon brings you closer
I want to confess to it an inner desire of mine
I want to ask the world to put out this fire
During the chorus, Kejtlin then offers her sunshine to another person she hopes to share a peaceful world with. She’s also willing to conserve her own life breath so that the individual in question can recover:
Oh I would love to share a little bit of sunshine with you
And each time you need me
I would give you my breath

Are you a fan of “Pakëz Diell” by Kejtlin Gjata? Do the lyrics resonate with you? Let us know in the comments below.
Cute lyrics but unfortunately a god awful composition altogether. This screams ‘last place’ to me 🙁
Okay, except for the “pray” mention. Who brainwashed this poor child?
I do very much appreciate that, and I put no fault at Kejtlin’s door whatsoever. It’s just this one word I don’t like, and even that could be just the English translation. What does “pray” mean?
Why would she want to pray, and to who? God? Religion should be made illegal for under eighteens. Parents and schools deluding innocent minds like that is abuse.
No. Religion should be allowed, but indoctrination of babies should not. Let them make up their own minds when they grow up.
She’s eleven, and she prays. That’s proof enough for me.
I will grant you absolution.
You will get a big surprise when you die, just wait.
No. It will be a nice surprise.
The surprise will be that I, Jonas, am God. Now you’ve ruined it.
Cake is served at the end of mass. A bit flat and tasteless, but still. Glute-free also available. Do this in memory of me.
you’re a horrible person
I am? Oh dear, what a pity.
Your comment only ruin this song beautiful meaning! just dont complain, who care about you hate god, teaching religion or pray anyway? dont be a child!
I love this song very much and I love the Albanian language. I wish Kejtlin Gjata good luck in Yerevan and I will vote for her,
This comparison makes no sense, at all.
Ok lol if people think to compare a jesc act with an esc act is relevant….I thought it was not the same contest but 2 different, sorry my bad that’s true jesc is becoming esc 2.0 I had forgotten that.
I love this girl’s voice, the song is a simple pretty albanese ballad, last year Albania tried something different than usual for them, an uptempo danceable song and it didn’t work very well unfortunately so it’s legitimate imo for them to come back to something more on their roots, Albania is well known for its beautiful ballads. I wish her to enjoy this experience as much as she can. Good luck to Kejtlin!
