We are past the half way mark of Melodifestivalen 2024 and in week 4 we have moved up to Eskilstuna where heat 4 will take place in Volvo CE Arena on Saturday. The six week Melfest tour of six Swedish cities will eventually decide, who will represent Sweden on home soil in Malmö in May.

The 30 second rehearsal videos are out for watching now, which means it’s time for one thing: To name your favourite.

Click on the artist’s song title below to watch their snippet. Then vote in our poll. You can vote for as many artists as you’d like, but you can only vote one time. Be sure to tick the box next to each act you want to support.

Format of Melodifestivalen 2024

30 acts participate in Melfest 2024 split into 5 heats of six acts each. The number 1 and 2 placed acts from each heat qualify directly to the grand final in Stockholm and the two lowest placed acts are finished in the competition. This make up for the first 10 acts qualifying for the grand final

Number 3 and 4 of each heat will have their fate decided in a Final Qualification held in connection with heat 5. The 10 songs in all will compete for 2 tickets to the grand final decided by the percentage of votes each entry got in their heat plus the amount of votes they get in the Final Qualification.

12 songs compete in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen held in Friends Arena in Stockholm on 9 March.

Melodifestivalen is hosted by Carina Berg.

Who is your favourite in this heat? Are any of these acts the one you want to see go all the way to Eurovision? Let us know in the comments below.

This is the weakest semi of them all… all songs are bland, and no not saying that because it is Sweden but they really are not any memorable songs at all…
Albin looks like he is singing kareoke, Lia looks like she is on a childres show, Dotter connects with the camera but the song is bland, the spooky girls looks like the act following Lia on that childrens show and Danny a middle aged man trying to be 20, just looks weird.

Agree on everything instead of Dotter. Not because I am fan but the song is quality and I think we did not see the full potential with the song based on the snippets we got. At the moment I am also not wowed but I think there is something there

yes I was talking about this heat and not the whole competition, I think last heat was the strongest so far, aswell as heat number 2 which was also quite strong. But this one is the weak one even with the heavy hitters in it.

I’m honestly disappointed by Danny, this seems to have very little effort. I was hoping for something much better?

It all seems a bit meh, but qualifiers are somewhat clear, mainly because of their name:

In: Albin Tingwall, Lia Larsson, Dotter and Danny Saucedo

Out: Lasse Stefanz and Scarlet

Just relistened to the snippets and I have to agree, feels like there’s more to the song than the snippet shows in Dotter’s case.
Btw, I actually kinda like SIP, Jacqline and Lisa Ajax, but still I’m not particularly into any of the songs so far.

“Circus X” sounds phenomenal. Only the second song I actually like from this dissapointing Melodifestivalen edition (the other song I’d like to win Melo 2024 is “Unga & Fria” but that’s definitely not happening). Apart from Scarlet, Frõken Snusk and maybe Jacqline’s “Effortless”, no other song has impressed me at all this year from Sweden. Maybe it’s just my rather picky taste.

Haven’t listened yet, but the comments have lowered my expectations sadly. I think the pool of songwriters have stopped aiming for a win, they are happy to just send filler and collect the cheque. Most of them have already won anyway. Hence dilution of quality. Their heart is not in it.

Until now, nothing really grabbed me that much from the heats.
Even Dotter and Danny are rather underwhelming.
(Smash Into Pieces until now but that’s more because I like this genre even though Heroes are calling goes nowhere near Six Feet Under).

But lets see after full songs of the fourth and fifth heat.
What can Marcus & Martinus or Medina deliver?
But until now, it seems safe to say that Sweden likely won’t aim for another victory this year.

Yeah. But not only the songs. Rumours say that Danny was not able to do the stageshow he wanted because there was not enough money. The inflation get to us all. I see a pattern this year. Many performances seem like they have been done before. Almost no one brings something new to the stage.

Again, the songs that aren’t supposed to do really well suprising me the most here! Lia, Albin and scarlet’s songs all sound better than expecting, with lasse not being bad either! Meanwhile, Dotter’s song sounds overhyped and probably will be getting HUGE staging funding. I see Danny Saucedo’s song is written by one ‘John Martin’. Is this the one who used to be a big singer and Swedish House Mafia?

What is going on with Melodifestivalen? I’m dissapointed with the lack of ideas. Dotter has a beautiful song but the performance seems to have too much inspiration from Loreen. What are they thinking?
Danny’s song feels old and done a hundred times. Both of the two big names this week seem like they’re not delivering.
Poor Marcus and Martinus.. I see the odds become more and more in their favour because nothing impresses. Talk about pressure on them now.
Maria Sur is still my nr.1.

Denis

You mean the song? That kind of genre is popular, Loreen is not the only one to use it. Nor was she the first. You can do worse than Loreen.
As for Danny, it is not a bad song, winning the heat. But winning overall? Maybe..
It would not be the worst choice!

Milla

Dotter resembles to much to Loreen. Laying on the piano and doing the same movements.. Not a good sign. Dotter is usually creative, but to do something like last years winner is a big no no. There is no winner in this heat imo at the moment.

Hype for this selection this year seems to be underground, at least among Eurofans… the songs so far have been very middle-of-the-road, it’s like Melfest’s songwriting camps are stuck half a decade ago while most other national finals have been improving.

Oh boy, Dotter and Danny are gonna be overrated as hell if one of them represents Sweden. I like the melody of Dotter’s song, but the cliche lyrics are hard to stomach. Danny is just there and his points are gonna come from being Danny. Frankly, the snippets from Albin Tingwall and Scarlet are better than the Ds. Maybe they gave the one good song to the Norwegian twins? This ain’t it and they’re running out of heats.
