So far producers of Finland’s Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2025 have given us euro-dance, bubble gum dance and pop rock. And tonight we finally get ballad.
Viivi — a 25-year-old singer from Turku — will sing “Aina” (Always), a song that celebrates a lifelong partnership.
She’s not an unknown singer. Her 2022 single “Wonderful Pain” — a collab with Robin Packalen — hit #1 in Finland. And the same year she was nominated for five prestigious EMMA Awards.
VIIVI’s music deals with big emotions. She lives to see her music impact people.
“At gigs, my songs come to life again and I’m always moved when I see someone crying in the front row. It’s speechless.”
Viivi — “Aina”
According to the Yle press release, VIIVI had been eyeing UMK for years, but wanted to wait for the perfect song.
“The song has to be “douze points”! The feeling contained in the song Aina is so indescribably great that it requires an arena-level setting to perform it. I feel like this is the most significant song of my career.”
VIIVI said the song walked through the door – at a songwriting camp in the spring. And it was wearing a wedding dress.
“I wanted to make a big love song that would be played at weddings. Everyone deserves to experience eternal love and love another person, like the love in this song.”

So what do you think of VIIVI’s song? Where does it rank among the three UMK 2025 songs revealed so far?
This is a smart move – she will get a lot of wedding gigs
Well Finland, Krista Siegfrids demanded that her lover should ‘Marry Me’ 12 years ago, so it’s only right that 12 years later Viivi wants people to get married too LOL
Love this song. Its such a beautiful ballad.
Only two songs are left, but this might be my winner. Beautiful. And Finnish is so lovely to hear.
Not a fan of ballads, but this one hits different. Especially the last sentence about forgetting your loved one when you grow old.
Also the setting is a mystery and everyone has their own idea what it could be. I think it represents her in the forest with black portal to purple room, or the afterlife, and vice-versa because purple room has a portal to the forest.
Flat song !
why are all the umk songs so bland so far??
I like them all. They might not be ESC winning maeterial but I would not call them bland for that.
There are 3 more songs. Hope you feel those 3 songs more than the first 4.
Except one certainly better than last year at this point.
Certainly the best of the bunch so far. (Have no idea how it would fare and I don’t care.)
This could bring us some truly magical moments on stage – with the right staging of course. It’s a good song and while it will need a bit of a push it might do well. (In umk – not sure about esc)
It’s a nice and sweet ballad, but something’s missing. Doesn’t instantly grab me
What an amazing ballad, definetly the best ever in UMK. I can see this being top5 in Eurovision final, but the staging and vocals need to be on point, otherwise this will flop.
OMG. Such a beautiful song and the language is magical.
Its not touching me emotionally. Out of 4 so far i would place this one 4th
Not a fan of Viivi but I loved this song (beautiful melody and lyrics, sticks around right away) and I think it has a chance of winning!
Not my personal favourite, but I can see why people might like it.
Beautiful song. My favorite so far
Lovable, charming, beautiful – great overall. Music video once again top notch!
Finally a good song. Took a while. Aina will likely not win UMK, but that doesn’t matter. This song will be in my replay list.
Its chances of winning UMK depend on what’s next imo
I hope so, but Erika Vikman will be a very high bar to beat. Aksel Kankaanranta was able to beat her, but that was before she got celebrity status in Finland.
I’m not sure about Erika. I know she’s loved by the fandom but her live doesn’t cut it her song could be sort of kitschy. My bet’s on OLM and Goldielocks to bring something better
It’s a sad day when people vote for a song because of the artists popularity over the song itsself.
The Finnish fandom need to remember that the majority of people outside of Finland know nothing about her, so she may not be the best choice if her song/performance isn’t the best.
B E A U T I F U L L !!!!
My current n1 there
And what a voice !
so far this is my favourite. despite being in a language i don’t understand i get it without having to look at english susbtitles. i also am in love with her voice and how raw it is <3
nothing special for now, but it could be a grower I think
Not to spread negativity, but what’s the point of writing an article for every individual UMK entry if you’re not even gonna add lyrics and writing credits by the end of it?
How could they, Yle releases lyrics after the song is released.
The song is being released tonight. This article flags that. It’s news, not a Wikipedia article.
They releasing them one day at time, which is exceptional.
