The rumour mill is back in full swing and we’ve finally got a lead about the United Kingdom at Eurovision 2022.
Electro-pop superstar Little Boots has revealed she is writing a song for Eurovision.
The Blackpool-born songstress, best known for her 2009 hit “Remedy”, announced her new project on Twitter.
Little Boots writing a Eurovision song for the United Kingdom
Little Boots, real name Victoria Christina Hesketh, dropped her tease on Wednesday 8 September.
She shared a photo of herself in a recording studio setup, wearing headphones while stood in front of a microphone.
Ms. Boots told fans she is “actually writing a Eurovision song”, tagging Graham Norton and the official BBC Eurovision Twitter account.

Little Boots soared to national fame in 2009 with the release of her album Hands, which peaked at number five on the British album chart. Her smash-hit single “Remedy” peaked at number six on the singles chart and was certified silver in the UK.
Since then, the Lancashire icon has released a further two full length studio albums and a number of EPs. Her newest single “Silver Balloons” is scheduled to hit streaming services on Friday 24 September — which also makes it eligible for Eurovision.
Elsewhere, Little Boots has deep-running Eurovision connections. She’ll be playing keyboards and synthesisers for Swedish legends ABBA as part of their Voyage shows.
The “New In Town” hitmaker previously expressed a desire to enter Eurovision for her country.
In 2013, the singer responded to rumours of her participation on Twitter: “Lolz totally would be up for Eurovision. Maybe I should enter next year.”
Graham Norton himself encouraged her, adding: “you will get the call!”
Eight years later, that idea is yet to come to fruition. But now it seems Little is ready to grace the Italian stage in her Boots!
While Little Boots’ tease is far from any kind of confirmation, it offers a glimmer of hope for British Eurovision fans: big artists are keen to get involved.
After all, the BBC is yet to confirm the United Kingdom’s participation at Eurovision 2022 in Italy.
In recent weeks, tabloid media has claimed British labels are “boycotting” Eurovision in response to a fabled “anti-British bias”, with reports that record giant BMG has ceased its internal selection process partnership with the BBC.
The age-old refrain continued: “The boycott could leave the BBC having to discover future acts and fund their entry themselves.”
Yet, even if that was the case, Little Boots’ new tease proves at least one thing. There is no shortage of artists itching to get their moment in the Eurovision spotlight.
What do you think? Would you like to see Little Boots represent the UK at Eurovision? Let us know in the comments below.
random, but i’ve just noticed that bbc eurovision twitter account are following Kim Wilde. You think she’d do it?
I would love to have her represent us
Good thing is that she’s interested (unless she is teasing us) and she is the best name to hear for ESC so far… much better than a bunch of drag queens killing completely the reputation of UK in Eurovision LOL.
i have her debut cd! she’s amazing
Never heard of her…
I’d love to see Jai McDowall for the UK. Stunning voice and goods looks. He just needs the right song to slay!
Remedy is still my JAM till this day. She might be the cure that the UK needs to lift the ESC curse. Little Boots is a credible act, great vocals and brilliant pianist. She might be able to come up with an entry that’s simple but captivating on a live stage.
I’d LOVE to see Little Boots represent the UK. She’s written some fantastic songs over the years.
Off topic, but in 5 days, we will know who Belgium will send to Eurovision.
I get that she hasn’t been a big name for years, but I would expect her to bring, at the very least, a competent club banger. I actually really like most of the stuff I’ve heard from her throughout the years.
Every time we hear about potential options to solve the UK curse at Eurovision, it’s either 1-hit-wonders from ages ago or joke entries… I hope everyone here realizes it’s never going to work, right?
I used to live in London, you can literally enter any hole in the wall in the city and there’s always amazing performers singing original compositions. They’re all unknown, just send people to scout the city and I’m sure you’ll find hidden gems.
London really does have some of the best holes in the wall!!
Hehehe
“Superstar”…..
Beyoncé is a superstar. Little Boots is far from that level of fame.
Nevertheless, if she has the approval of Benny and Björn, she must have a lot going for her.
Literally who
OFF TOPIC:
But is this the longest we’ve ever had to wait for a host city announcement? I mean ESC 2022 is just 8 months away.
C’mon RAI, just pick a city.
and some Italian site just published today that they still haven’t decided… Italians like to take things slowly I guess;)
Generally southerners decide about host cities later than other countries! Portugal did it in 2017, Greece in 2006 and Italy now continuing the tradition… Also Ukraine in 2016 took a bit long to make a decision
RAI they just don’t care a lot about Eurovision, I’m sure they would have prefered to not win, so be prepared…
Garbage. They have known full well they were going to win sooner rather than later. Besides why do we need to know every little decision. I am sure RAI is doing everything they should and have a bigger agenda than some fans who spend too much time on the internet.
Shirley Manson for the UK, I would like that.
I would enjoy that too!
I heard her say on a podcast that Waterloo was the first song she ever loved, and that watching the 1974 contest with her family is one of her beloved childhood memories… so maybe it could happen.
The BBC should ask the singer “Sigrid” from Norway if she wants to perform for the UK. That is a good singer/songwriter with a huge stage-presence. Greetings from your loyal fan from Germany.
Why would they get someone who had nothing to do with any of the 4 nations of the United Kingdom?
Wouldn’t Sigrid be better off representing, I dunno, Norway? Considering she’s actually from there like.
if Celine Dion is able to sing for Switzerland then why not Sigrid for the UK. The UK has a lot of good singers but they don’t want to represent their country. This is not my fault.
Probably because Canada don’t take part in Eurovision as opposed to Norway, who do?
She is a super singer and the BBC used her song Home To You, most effectively, for their Tokyo Olympic closing montage. But I think the plan might backfire with televoters snubbing what might be seen as a cop-out. It wouldn’t go down well with the UK public, either.
Hi guys, if you want to know how Little Boots sounds “live on stage” without autotune and that stuff just search on youtube for “Little Boots – Live at Glastonbury [2009]” and build your own opinion. I did it (better I had not done it).
What is an “eurovision song”? There are good songs or bad songs, that’s all.
If we were going to nitpick the definition, a Eurovision song would have to be 3 minutes long or shorter. Also, it would be bound to sustain from profanity, as well as product endorcement in the lyrics. 🙂 Other than that, yeah, there is no specific genre that is more ESC-friendly than the other. In fact, the very belief that it exists can contribute to the lack of variety some countries are showing.
and that’s how you write a song 🙂
“While Little Boots’ tease is far from any kind of confirmation, it offers a glimmer of hope for British Eurovision fans: big artists are keen to get involved.” – Sorry, but Little Boots is more of an one-hit-wonder or a has-been, had like 1 hit single, not a big artist in 2021 anymore.
She probably needs some attention or PR for her new record, without mentioning Eurovision, no other news media would probably care about her new stuff anyway.
Both ‘New in Town’ and ‘Remedy’ were Top 15 Hits, which means she’s not a one-hit-wonder.
Anyway any artist BBC are considering is likely under NDA, meaning Little Boots is likely just recording a demo. Until BBC Studios talk about their plans, everything is just rumours.
Not listening until I hear a song.
I have to imagine there are plenty of artists in the UK that would love to be given an opportunity and a platform to perform on a stage as big as Eurovision with a potential to sell a single to a big audience. Especially considering how many UK artists end up on celeb reality shows. Granted I’m not talking Adele, Sheeran or Rita Ora but there’s plenty of artists that have following in the UK and have not broken out in Europe that would love to get a platform like Eurovision.
My number one wish is Clean Bandit. They are yet to release a bad song. The other name I’m hoping to see is Marina with a song like Froot.
lol I misspelled my own nickname
meh
Unless it is a serious song, a great song AND she sings it perfectly on stage, chances are slim it’ll get in the top 20. Yes what she does reflects what Dadi Freyr did over the last two years but it’s far darker and without “punch”.
One thing I do appreciate and respect is that she is the only one to come forward up to now, so I hope it is a great song and she sings it perfectly so we can all be shut up including me!
For me, if UK sends Little Boots:
1. They’ll get their first top10 since 2009
2. Those sore losers will stop accusing us for hating them
3. It’ll genuinely mean BBC kinda tries to do ANYTHING again for the first time since 2003..
“It’ll genuinely mean BBC kinda tries to do ANYTHING again for the first time since 2003”
Yeah because sending Little Boots is way more effort than Andrew Lloyd Webber, Blue and Bonnie Tyler WTF???
The other three attempts were at the level of “Yeah, ok, let’s send someone famous and hope for the best”. Little Boots can genuinely bring quality and stand out, unlike these 3 you mentioned
No way would she do it, it’ll be a song submission for another (BBC CRAP) singer at best.
The ABBA concerts start in May, though?
The ABBA concerts start late in May – I’m hoping to see some holograms as the interval act in Italy 😉
I’m sure that will come Kirstie
This is a group that has “real singers” – they don’t even need autotune now when they are age 71-76. That is impressive. Okay, back to the UK topic …..nothing to add there.
omg i hope she is not just teasing us? she will be doing the abba voyage concerts (backing vocals etc) so i hope it’s not related to Waterloo or sth. I hope she really connects with BBC about Eurovision. She’s probably one of the few (if not the only) serious artists to express interest so far. She’s got a new album coming up later this month which means her submission (if she really submits a song) might be one of the new songs in the album. She said that the album will be tad influenced by Abba…
Backing vocals for holograms?
I think her name pops up after every contest as a rumoured act for UK.
She’s a class act! Remedy, earthquake and new in town formed part of the soundtrack to my youth and I know she’s still up there with her electronic style.
I think she should do it! No harm trying.
“No more poison killing my emotions, I will not be frozen, dancing is my remedy, remedy.”
One of the singular best songs to come out of the 2010s
Oh easily! Still a banger to this day
It’s nothing but talk unless the BBC says something, but she could do well. The bar is low.
Indeed it is… 🙁
