He recorded his debut single “You Got Me Girl” in Bulgarian, English and Russian.
And on Saturday evening Kristian Kostov expanded his multi-national audience even further by performing the song live during the final of the Miss World 2017 beauty pageant in Sanya, China.
“Thank you for this opportunity!” the 17-year-old wrote on Instagram after the competition. “Literally the most beautiful show I’ve ever taken part in.”
Showing just how much he’s grown in confidence since Eurovision, Kristian filled the pink and purple stage with major swagger and flair. “Hello Miss World 2017,” he said with his back to the audience. “Let’s have some fun tonight.”
Sporting an acid-blonde bob, he stayed true to his Eurovision styling by wearing an experimental, all-black number consisting of skinny trousers and a billowing, amorphous top.
The song’s theme — longing for that beautiful lady who has cast a spell on you — seemed perfect for a pageant that featured 118 of the world’s most beautiful women, from countries including Mexico, France, Kenya and Vietnam.
“I’m going out, working out, thinking, ‘Don’t you?'” he sings. “I’m running ’round, hanging ’round thinking, ‘Don’t you want me now?'”
Kristian has clearly enjoyed his time in China, having posted a series of spirited snaps that showed him voguing in front of a pink convertible, admiring beautiful costal scenery from his luxury hotel suite and taking in some sun while relaxing beneath palm trees.
Miss India Manushi Chhillar won the title, becoming the sixth woman from her country to do so. She follows in the footsteps of Priyanka Chopra — the Bollywood star who is one of our top picks to sing at Eurovision Asia next year — who won India’s last title 17 years ago.
According to her official bio on the Miss World web site, Manushi plans to pursue a career in medicine — first becoming a heart surgeon before opening a series of non-profit hospitals in remote areas of the country.
A woman of many talents, she is also a classically trained dancer with keen interests in scuba diving and snorkelling.

I also fail to avoid comparison to G-dragon, not only visually. Wonder if he’ll want to appeal to their market as well. That block of countries is hella competitive in pop unlike scattered Europe.
Is this miss India singing? So Ugly. And the song so boring…
Really? Is this what Kristian has to show?… A pale and tasteless imitation of Junstin Bieber?… Come on! What a joke!
I can’t wait until Kristian releases his album sometime next year! Maybe he can plan a concert tour next to that! 😀
Not loving the song or the look but definitely great that he is getting big show, international opportunities. Hopefully, he’ll get back to the style he has been producing, such as ???????.
“Glubina” obviously.
Exactly! “GLUBINA” is his label author song, beating the top charts of so many countries in Europe only within a week after being released! And at least 3 new author song projects still to be finished and released soon. This is what an artist should judged by. WTF a hair color or style have to do with talent and voice?!
Looks strange that most of the comments above are about the looks of Kristian, and just a few of them deal with his genuine qualities… Does any of you judges above feel and perceive true and good music, otherwise I suppose a hairdressing forum could be more appropriate for you to comment in 😉 ? Please, don’t judge so harsh on Kristian! Ever thought of how a rude and insulting word could affect a person’s soul and feelings?! How many of you know about the hard times, or the ups & downs this boy had to go through on his… Read more »
As the color of the hair and hair style have nothing to do with the singer’s qualities, why did he change too seriously his outlook by turning himself into an asian Justin Bieber copy or K-pop singer?! Why did he transformed his hair from dark black to blond /yellow one? Because he has nothing creative to do anymore to attract attention to but to changing his hair color or clothing. Very tasteless style btw! Kristian is a totally mediocre singer with mediocre abilities, deprived of the charisma of a real star.Everyhing he’s been doing since Eurovision is pale covers and… Read more »
What do you mean? That he could have won?Yes he looks like a big star.He is more authentic with black hair though.
He was just great ! Love his k-pop look and the variations of the melody he made with his voice… I’m so happy for him!
You can make an article about esc stars singing in beauty pageants.
I only know Freddie Hungary 2016.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfjVSA-XEhw
There are reports saying that Sunstroke Project and Micha? Szpak will perform in the Miss Supranational pageant to be held on 1 Dec in Krynica-Zdrój, Poland.
Blue (UK 2011) performed in Miss World 2011 and 2013.
And of course, you can never miss out Emin for this!
If you extend this to other appearances as well, you may also include Anggun and Amir. Both appeared in the Miss France pageants (Anggun for Miss France 2016 and Amir for Miss France 2017) as judges.
that’s a huge gig! congrats to him! solvador could never.
I love people that creates a competition between singers/artists, the competion is over honey. “Solvador” could never because he doesn’t see music as a commercial way. Let me say isn’t the sucess that defines the value of an “artist”, it’s their “art”. I don’t pretend to blame the “fast food” music, who I am to define good music or bad? I just don’t limit myself to listen radio music (mainstream), there are a lot unknown artists (different of radio’s artists), they deserve some spotlight. Good for Kristian if he feels happy for to perform of around of world. But it… Read more »
Salvador can do anything, but nobody wants him there because if he farts he can set the place on fire.
thankfully they didnt invite slavador, he would bore everyone to death with his dull songs, and also insult many people with his rude comments
“Baochi lianghao de gongzuo!”
Mandarin is my first language so I’m guessing what you mean is “Keep up the good work?” It’s like you’re translating by google translation.
Thankfully he didn’t win ESC.
Another manufactured pop singer waiting for his label to make it happen for him.
That Bieber-copy must try harder.
It’s the other way around: Kristian was amazing! 🙁
He isn’t Bieber-copy at all. You must try harder to distinguish characters and souls before writing comments. Kristian is one of kind 🙂
Another boring copy of a K-Pop/Justin Bieber singer. One of a copycat kind.
One gets the vibes he really wants to enter the contest too
Congratulations miss world?.
India had a long time due!! Finally we have a winner 🙂
And people claimed esc killed careers. Apparently some use it as a jumping board to international stardom.
On a side note, this Indian girl is no Priyanka Chopra.
I wish Kris all the best, but so far he is on the track of losing his identity. That peroxide blonde, K-pop gestures and staff… I hope he will find his place in the world. Be yourself, mate, everyone else is already taken
He loves k-pop and loves to look like such a star – it’s part of him and his style… so he’s not losing himself, don’t worry 🙂 His new single is in Russian but you’ll notice this Japanese like lyrics in the video yaah!! Glubina (Depth): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-O75UqrpEss
Is 3:19 AM in Eastern Europe, but it seems that the right article gets comments right away. We are all really die-hard fans.
LOOOOOOOOVe Kristian, cant wait for him to start releasing some albums.
That would be great! And maybe Kristian could go on tour as well! 😀
omg he’s got Yokonozided!!!
He looks like Kpop singer Gdragon now! ?
How come these competitions still exist? Were questions for the girls? Those weird questions about ”what would you do to fight against i s i s”. As if is their job to find the answer in a few seconds, otherwise they are called stupid.
Yo, I legit thought he was a woman. I kept trying to find him in the main photo but I was like: “Who is that woman dressed in black?” He does look like a k-pop singer though.
Did anyone else notice that he stood next to Miss Kazakhstan and Miss Bulgaria in the end? I thought that was very cute and clever.
And staged. Why Kazakhstan and Bulgaria would be next to each other in the first place?
lol
You slay Robyn! 😀
I still prefer the Bulgarian version, to be honest, since it’s the very first version of the song to be released. But since the title of the Bulgarian version is “Ne si za men” (“You’re not for Me” in English), You Got Me Girl” is a fit for the show. I enjoyed the performance and I’m proud that he’s gone big.
Is it just me, or does Kristian look like a Bieber clone now?
He looks like a Barbie.
Bieber Barbie? 😉
a kpop singer, because of his hairstyle also he has some facial features similar with oriental people.
He looks more like a K-Pop boyband member to me with that hair color ??
Awesome job, Kristian! Keep up the good work! Or should I say…Baochi lianghao de gongzuo! 🙂 (Sorry for my horrible Chinese by the way! 🙁 )
Kpopish look….. He should learn how to dance like them first if he wanna go with that lane.
