TuralTuranX will sing “Tell Me More” for Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2023.

Twins Tural and Turan Bağmanov, 22, will fly the flag for Azerbaijan this May, as they take to the Liverpool Arena stage with their self-penned romantic ear-worm jam.

Scroll down to read the “Tell Me More” lyrics.

Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2023: TuralTuranX with “Tell Me More”.

Tural and Turan Bağmanov hail from Zaqatala, in the north-west of Azerbaijan. They mastered their artistic craft by performing on the streets, squares and parks of Baku, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The twins credit their father, who sadly passed away, for inspiring them as musicians, after he bought them a secondhand synthesiser. Their other musical influences include Pink Floyd, Queen and Guns N’ Roses.

When TuralTuranX were selected to represent Azerbaijan out of five short-listed candidates, the twins took to social media to thank their supporters: “It’s such an extraordinary feeling, it’s just impossible to describe it with words. The only familiar feeling is the feeling of gratitude”.

What do the “Tell Me More” lyrics mean?

TuralTuranX’s vintage soft-rock is a step away from Azerbaijan’s typical Eurovision formula, which often involves sending a mellow ballad. Whilst their musical style is refreshingly experimental, the subject they deal with is a classic: the yearning for communication in a relationship.

Whilst growing apart from their love interest remains a possibility, the singer is holding out hope that talking it out will smooth everything over. The chorus is an invitation for us to be open about our feelings – even though, sometimes, it can be difficult.

The opening verses are sombre. “I’ll die from the emotions that I kept down for years” – the singer’s feelings are eating him up inside, yet he is still fearful about expressing himself.

But things start to brighten up after the second chorus, as the singer feels ready to be honest about his feelings: “Let me tell you if you’re ready, hear me out, let’s go crazy”. He contemplates what life might be like if things go right, rather than being held back by the worry that things might fall apart.

“Tell Me More” is all about embracing the complicated when it comes to love, as often the two things come as a package deal. TuralTuranX encourage us to be open and honest about how we feel, even if it does mean taking a gamble.

TuralTuranX – “Tell Me More” lyrics (Azerbaijan Eurovision 2023)

Tell me more about me,
You, us
Tell me you love me, baby
More than I trust
And I just want to know
How do you feel about us
Right now?

I don’t know if I’m someone or someone is me,
I’m running from the fate and I’m giving up my dream
I’m carrying all the pain
And the sorrow that’s in vain
All the games you think I play
Are my ways of staying sane

I shout it from the hills up high
I’ve nothing only tears to cry
If I ever learn again to feel the way I did
I’ll die from the emotions that I kept down for years baby

Tell me more about me,
You, us
Tell me you love me, baby
More than I trust
And I just want to know
How do you feel about us
Right now?

I want to buy a land a thousand miles away
From the city that I’ve never even chose
I think the reason why is all because of people
Who treat you like a fool and make you wonder for the reason
Now is the time I am passing by the streets
And the places that we used to go to

We thought we’d be back pretty soon but never did
And distance between you and me gets so damn more

Let me tell you one thing, baby
It may change your all thoughts about us
And you won’t need to worry again, too
So, let me tell you if you’re ready
Hear me out, baby let’s go crazy,
I have something that you’re looking for
And that is love
Love
Love

Tell me more about me,
You, us
Tell me you love me, baby
More than I trust
And I just want to know
How do you feel about us
Right now?

Such an UNDERRATED masterpiece! Recalls people back to the 1990s/early 2000s, but also, fittingly, the era of the Beatles!

Something touching I recently found out is that Tural and Turan Ba?manov had two other brothers named Emin and Jamal, both of whom died in a road accident in 2015! No wonder they want the simple life now! This story explains why the pair are so close and are going together!

I think this is their best entry! ? getting rid of Swedish song writers always help. More genuine. Love the indie vibes

The vocals and vibes are nice, but the lyrics are quite questionable and there is not a whole lot in a way of climax here. Still, I get why so commenters like it and I see how it could work with good staging.

I love this entry! So sweet and wholesome, it’s the best bits of the Beatles all in one song imo. Their voices are gorgeous. Good luck Tural and Turan in Liverpool!!

Armenian broadcaster officially confirmed that in 2009, Azerbaijan completely cut the transmittion of the Armenian entry, EBU knew about it and for 8 months Armenian broadcaster complained and received a letter from the EBU telling them that EBU and Azerbaijan had reached a “confidential agreement” which involved a heavy sum (i.e., Azerbaijan bribed its way out of getting kicked out). Here’s the program:

I adore this song. It’s a shame that in order for it to qualify, it would probably have to knock out something I truly love.

Yawn. Hopefully, after bottom place finish in the semi-finals, Azerbaijan will revert back to their old self again. Europe wants more “Drip Drops” and “Cleopatra ‘s” rather than stone dead indie pop claptraps.

Alright…. prepare to heavily (rightfully too, lol) disagree with me, but….

This entry could be a shock border-qualifier.

I hated this at first, but it has a slight charm that I’ve grown fond of lately.

I doubt this will qualify, but it’s a great start for Azerbaijan as they move away from Swedish-written Melfest reject songs.

I hope that if they dont qualify they dont scrap this new direction and go back to outsourcing

But I feel like that’s exactly what they’re trying to do. I feel like the twins are being set up to fail so Azerbaijan can justify why they outsource. the first time they send something completely homegrown and fail to qualify? Time to ring up Sweden again.

Am I the only one to whom is this one of the top songs this year? I cannot stop listening it, it is so good, so refreshing, so Liverpool, so amazing ordinary song which you can hear on the radio… I would gladly swap any country in first semi for them to qualify. I hated their song last year and Im kinda sad there is no juries in semi this year because we need this quality in the final! They deserve it more than the screaming guy from the last year.
