After 30 years away from Eurovision, Luxembourg is making its triumphant return. And on Saturday evening it chose its artist through the Luxembourg Song Contest 2024.
Eight acts battled it out for the right to be Luxembourg’s first Eurovision entrant since 1993.
The show took place at the Rockhal concert hall in Esch-sur-Alzette, with four hosts guiding us through proceedings: Désirée Nosbusch, Melody Funck, Raoul Roos, and Loïc Juchem.
And in the end it was Tali who won the night with her song “Fighter.”
The 23-year-old artist lives in New York, where she works as a vocal coach and music teacher. Since the release of her EP, lose you, in 2021, she has been touring the city with her band. She left her home country to pursue a career as an actress in musicals such as Les Misérables.

Results
Two rounds of voting took place during the show. On both occasions, the results were determined 50% by jury vote and 50% by public vote.
After the first round of voting, three acts moved onto the super-final. They were…

The public and jury then voted again to decide the winner. The final result was…

Luxemburg will qualify & in a couple of years they will win again too. Tali’s song is too generic to my taste, but hey, this is what die-hard fans & the Eurovision gods like, so… this year Luxemburg will definitely qualify.

As much as I would’ve loved to put my two cents there, the discussion was already derailed and it was getting very deranged when I got there.
I was shocked this morning when I heard this song won. Rewatched the show, and there were much better choices. Both ballads are great, Joel was a good choice. This song is weak, it gives mid 2000s ESC filler vibe. Tali is charismatic, dancers are fine, but that’s it. They had at least 3 safe Q in the selection and they chose a song which can be NQ. I can’t get it.
Joel’s song is the weakest NF song I’ve seen so far…
It’s not spectacular but I feel he was better than Tali. I would choose Krick, there won’t be many ballads this year.

The production is a bit messy and so is the choreography. An unimpressive return from Luxembourg.
This was my choice as well. Fresh, catchy and well performed. Gives me some Noa vibes and the French adds a lot. For me, Krick’s song should have been sung in French, would have been more appropriate for Luxemburg and given it that certain “Je ne sais quoi” it needed to win. I think it’s a worthy comeback foe Luxemburg and all that’s left is to perfect the live show and live vocals, especially towards the end. But her voice and stage presence are great. Good luck!

We’ll deserved .So by the time Icland and Irland and few artists expressed their opinion, calling the EBU to band istael from participating they got a talented beautiful Israeli to represent Luxemburg .now instead of 1 there are 2. . Tali was born in Jerusalem to an Israeli mother and Jewish father from Peru and she speaks fluent Hebrew .

Preferred Naomi but Tali was a worthy winner and we already know she has the personality to make an impact in Malmo. The show itself was great. The highlight for me was that Anne-Marie David was given pride of place. She deserved that with her great support for the contest and its fans, though it would have been neat if, after 40 years, Herryes had also performed. I worry that we might get a “super-final” format in the main contest one day.
Sadly another generic pop song that will be average in result. Krick had class and something to work with in staging at least. This well the results will show in may

Don’t get me wrong, but the song and performance are excellent, and this might do very well in May. It’s very catchy and appealing, and I like the singer and her performance. However, I question on a moral basis, isn’t it in bad taste for Luxembourg to send an Israeli with a song titled ‘Fighter’? Come on now, are we trying to rub something in here? I really think it’s not intentional. Apart from the title, there’s nothing in the lyrics to give the impression that there’s a hidden message in this song.
Anyway, if there is an israeli born singer for which I could vote it’s TALI and certainly not the one representing Israel.

Tali’s parents are Jewish, her mother is Israeli, her father is Peruvian. She left Israel when.she was 5 months old cause of hers dad’s job . She grew up in Argentina and Luxemburg and correctly she lives in NYC and study music theater and btw she is a citizen of Luxemburg but honestly none of this is your business.

If Luxembourg wins again (and it won’t be in 2024 I’m afraid), Desiree Nosbusch would have to return as ESC host. I thought she was great tonight. She was breath of fresh air back in ’84 and she’d be the same in 2026 or beyond.
Oh, and I really hope RTL opens up its archives to celebrate its return. I’d love to see high-quality versions of ’73 and ’84.

I never expected that the star of national final season 2024 (so far) would be the woman who hosted the contest 40 years ago.
A welcome return to the competition but this song is generic Eurovision pop. It’s not going to pull up trees but it should qualify for the final and get enough votes for a respectable finish, which will encourage Lux to return again.

The more I think about last night’s show, the more I think it was less about finding a Eurovision winner, and more about RTL declaring “If we win this in the future, we are more than capable of hosting.” Perhaps it was an audition if a proxy host is needed again in the future?

The NF was very attractive, and Luxembourg picked a good song with qualification potential. It feels like a win. It’s just a shame they passed over a great song with even more potential.
There were 2 amazing songs with different vibes it was a hard choice tbh also for me I loved both. Tali is fresh and modern and the French language makes the song special also those fast phrases sound amazing. Krick had that beautiful ballad but the staging was kinda non existent and I think that was the problem.

I was so happy when Luxembourg announced their return! We need fresh blood, so to see them come back was an absolute joy… ….then the songs were released. Oh boy 🙁 I didnt watch the show as I just wasn’t invested in Luxembourgs selection. I find it quite surprising that they’ve been away from Eurovision for 30 or so years and they come back with so much vanilla. Like I agree it was the best show by far I witnessed from a Eurovision National Selection. Like Luxembourg is smaller than my backyard (that I don’t have btw :)( and they managed to put on a show better than Ireland, Czechia or others that will come did or will do.

Désirée Nosbusch was great in 1984 and she was great now, fourty years later. She’s one of my favourite hosts of all time.

What a great show… perfect and stylish perfomance, in all the ways: design, presenters, postcards, performances, stage, storytelling. It was all worth an ESC final. Hope I can enjoy your participation for a long long time and see your 6th championship. Congrats Tali… certainly you will do great at Malmö’s final!
Krick’s chances were ended by the jury vote: Tali won seven out of eight. Krick had a pretty song, sung competently but it was static and too one dimensional for the international juries. Tali’s vibrancy and energy gave her a better chance of selling the song. Fair result.
Krick had a very boring presentation and a generic ballad which would not stand out in Malmo.
The staging was the problem like who was in charge. I am pissed with an epic staging Krick could have won also the juries

Congrats Tali ! I like the fact that Luxembourg chose a partly French song for their big comeback. Drowning in the rain would have well pursued the powerful female ballad tradition of the country at Eurovision, but Fighter’s performance tonight felt very polished and I’m sure will serve a great base for the ultimate show in May.

I have been watching the Eurovision Song Contest since 2006, so I definitely understand the contest better than you kiddo.
I’ve been watching Eurovision since 1986, and I can tell you that Luxembourg were a powerhouse until they decided to leave the ESC to others.
Unfortunately they’ve come back with a lot of vanilla this year, but the best of the bunch won, and its a pleasant if not safe effort. Its definitely not bad at all. Hopefully next year they’ll find their rhythm and slowly start putting forward some grit and substance. But for now this is a good song , just safe.
I hope you are right, still I feel Fighter might struggle this year as it is nothing to write home about. But if I had to choose which country qualifies for the final, I would pick Luxembourg over Ireland and Slovenia any day.

My fav of the night were Angy and Rafa Ela so a bit didappointed but otherwise Tali did a good job too so deserved victory, good luck to her, good luck to Luxembourg.
The show was nice, very swedish obviously, with sweden self satisfaction of course, but a bit too long though.
The thing I’ve noted it’s the blatant lack of real stagings and props in all the performances, it was a swedish production and usually they are pretty strong when it comes to staging so it’s surprising.

I saw it at the bottom after the results had confirmed they wouldn’t be in the superfinal and I got really confused.
Tali had good staging – that’s why her song stood out as well.
I think it’s sad that the other five acts were cut out completely. They should have had their moment to receive some points, and there was time to do that. I want to know who was fourth. With 26 songs and 43 juries you need to rush, but not with eight songs and eight juries.
