Poll: Which solo artist has the best entry at Eurovision 2024?

Memorable solos throughout the years

One need only look back at previous victors to see the influence of solo performers. From the timeless charm of Johny Logan’s “Hold me now” in 1987, to the ethereal beauty of Celine Dion’s “Ne partez pas sans moi” in 1988, solo artists have consistently triumphed on the Eurovision stage.

In recent years, solo acts have continued to shine, with many claiming victory in the fiercely competitive contest. During the last decade alone, eight out of ten winners from 2013 to 2023 were solo artists, underscoring their dominance and appeal to both juries and audiences alike.

From the haunting balladry of Conchita Wurst’s “Rise Like a Phoenix” in 2014, to the infectious energy of Duncan Laurence’s “Arcade” in 2019, solo artists have delivered unforgettable performances that have resonated with viewers around the world.

Who did you vote for? Which of the solo performers do you expect to get the best result at Eurovision 2024? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

How come France and the UK are so low? Unfair and unbelievable. Both are true artists. Then you get surprised why famous musicians are not keen on Eurovision. Both have great entries, soulful performance, radio-friendly hit songs and both are charismatic.

What the F are you talking about? ugh… Loreen is Swedish with Morrocan roots, that’s totally fine… By the way, as tragic and horrible as the incident was with those workers, people should have some proportions. Look at how many aid workers have died around the world, before the current war and not just in Israel: https://www.aidworkersecurity.org/incidents/report It happens, that’s the ugly reality of war, it’s in dangerous zones. The IDF should learn from that mistake to never repeat it. Aid workers should always stay safe, but people in the world should know there’s nothing weird or crazy going on… Read more »

If you think wars are clean and there are no mistakes, you’re just delusional. They’re in a dangerous place and mistakes will obviously happen. The important thing is to learn from them so they never happen again, or realistically, as few as possible. I haven’t checked this number of 196 so I won’t comment right away, but I am talking about the 7 workers who were recently killed from WCK. People should stop thinking Israel is some kind of monster unseen anywhere else around the world and hold a grip of reality. This world is FULL of wars with many… Read more »

The part where you’re acting like this is a once off. Israel is only investigating it now because there’s been backlash from the west, and western people were killed. Any other other time, such as the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh, or the 196 aid workers, or the Al Jaz journos in south Lebanon, IDF would refuse to acknowledge it. Refuse to investigate it. Or give a lame @ss excuse. But the fact that you’re choosing to ignore everything else is disgusting. Ignoring the war crimes committed ON THE DAILY is disgusting. I don’t hate Israel. However I will call them out on the heinous crimes that the government and the IDF commit daily. Just like I will with Russia, North Korea and every other regime that behaves so brutally.

I understand that some people don’t like the song from Switzerland but I don’t understand the ones saying that the odds seem fishy. I mean first, 22% of winning chance is not really high. Look back at what got Loreen last year. Plus, Baby Lasagne got 21% some weeks ago with quite a margin and I didn’t hear no one saying it was fishy. Secund, in my opinion the song is epic (not because of the subject but the music itself) and I think that what made people reacted these past days is that now we know that Nemo can… Read more »

I don’t think juries will blank him but I think they will make it more difficult for him to win. And it bothers me to know that he might even have some difficulties to win the public vote because of Joost Klein. That’s why a lot of people think that Italy or Switzerland will win the whole thing. Both will certainly be top 3 juries (Switzerland having big chances of winning) and I think they will come directly after The Netherlands and Croatia with the public.

So many big options. This year has an incredible line-up in my opinion. If we are talking about wanting iconic winners which will be talked about for years to come, my choices would be: – Nemo – awesome collection of genres, excellent vocal talent, breaking down barriers – Joost – conjuring an exceptional mix of emotions, a universal tune that will age well, based on previous live performances, I am expecting iconic staging (no pressure!) – Bambie Thug – innovative entry, iconic presentation, breaking down barriers I’m fine with someone else winning it, but if we’re talking about a winner… Read more »

I am not annoyed. I’ve been following this contest for many, many years, and I’ve yet to live though a show where my own personal favourite wins, so yeah…I’m fully prepared for another Toy arghhh lol.
I don’t let media, odds or politics dictate what I do or don’t like/appreciate.
And yeah, this rise in popularity of this track does not seem organic in the slightest. The performance was average…and annyoing.
THIS FAUXPERA IS REALLY NOT IT!

Factually I struggle to see nemo’s popularity with the bigger public. The polls cover a maximum of 1% of voters who are die hard Eurovision fans. But to the broader public I truly think Europapa and Rim Tim Tagi Dim will easily beat nemo in televotes.
Down to the jury to gather that 70 points back for him. I think Europapa is a sleeping giant.
Nemo 2.3 million views
Europapa 17 million
Streams – nemo 3 million
Europapa 28 million.

The stats don’t add up

I think 70% of Europapas views are from the dutchies tho…he’s got a really big fanbase there, no wonder the only pre party he is willing to attend is the one in Amsterdam, the fans are gonna boost his performance.

I read that Europapa has 66% of streams from NL, but the rest is also mostly coming from Belgium and Germany, around 25%… in most countries is streamed less than other entries…

An interesting poll, and my top five, in no particular order, are: Aiko, love the original version of the song especially; Nemo, an ambitious song and amazing vocal; Bambie Thug, I am under their spell; Angelina, nothing boring about this song; and Marina Satti, unexpected and brilliant.

I’m happy with the present Top 5. Croatia, Switzerland, UK, Italy, Netherlands. Ireland has really grown on me and France is obviously top-tier classy ballad. I also think that Cyprus has been slept on a bit. The least said about the representative of a genocidal state the better.

BRING THE HOSTAGES HOME!
My top favourite entries this year are those of Israel and Luxembourg. The songs sound different from one another but for me, they aren’t disconnected, there hurt, there’s hope, there’s thehope, there’s life, there’s fighting for the ones you love, there’s support. Eden’s got a voice, she’s got an haute couture voice. TALI’s so talented and charming.
I do have a top 3, it’s one of the big 5. It’s not Olly Alexander. Does he know there’re two British citizens among the hostages?

Both Edan and Tali are not even top 5 material/vocalists/entries, so it is strange that exactly they are your top 2, unless you are Israeli supporter and that’s why you mention these 2 specificaly. May the best one win (clearly, non of the mentioned in this comment)

No gaslighting here. These are truths. The people may want them back but the government couldn’t give two hoots what part of the rubble they’re lying under. They’ve already killed a whole bunch of them amongst the airstrikes. Please stop acting like you are the good guys doing nothing wrong. We can see right through you.

Who’s to blame for them being dead now? IDF for striking there because of the terr0rists being there without knowing whether or not hostages are there? Or Hmas for literally kidnapping them in the first place? Yea, gaslighting. Even intel has its limits. We probably don’t know where they all are and we can be sure they’re being guarded by Hmas terr0rists, so can’t just go in there and take them out. It only worked twice so far. You should really be condemning Hmas for invading a country and kidnapping the civilians from their homes instead of blaming us for… Read more »

Had people been more chill about the war and just accept Israel in Eurovision this year, I can assure you, there would have been less votes for Eden in these polls.
Why? Because when people try to just speak badly against her and boycott Israel, that’s when we decide to vote for her intentionally.
Is she my favourite this year? Probably not.
Will I vote for her in every poll just to counter the boycotts? Absolutely.

But it’s true… People are ignoring Israel because of politics, so I could argue I’m just making it neutral that way.
If you wanna know, I also voted for other countries in this poll.
But I just gave here the reason why in some polls, Israel is leading with a huge margin, that’s all.
I want the people to treat Israel this year like in any other year – just judge the song and that’s it, but people have made it to the extreme part of ignoring us as if we don’t exist.

War or no war – that song leaves me completely cold. It’s not engaging, not exciting – just you average by the numbers ballad. We heard songs like that many many times and this brings nothing new that would entice the audience.

The lyrics are in large parts very anonymous, but their hands were tied due to censorship. Although the original version didn’t have better lyrics, either so yes, it’s very much lyrics by numbers. But the package makes it strong for me. The composition is excellent, her voice is stunning and almost nobody has excellent lyrics. When I compare this act to the others, Eden has nothing to hide indeed.

Since Wiwi clarified to all of us that, the 5 Estonian men jumping on the stage are formally a “duo” (fair point, as the song description and credits say precisely this) I am nevertheless pretty confused about the classification on the whole. Is Teya Dora an artist or a name of the band?…. Just an example 😀
