With the participants of the Eurovision 2024 grand final confirmed after the two semi-finals, the EBU has now revealed the running order for Saturday’s show.

Hosts Sweden had previously been drawn to open the grand final during March’s Heads of Delegation meeting. Show producers have now determined that Ukraine will follow in second, whilst Austria has the honour of closing the show.

Eurovision 2024 grand final running order

  1. Sweden
  2. Ukraine
  3. Germany
  4. Luxembourg
  5. Netherlands
  6. Israel
  7. Lithuania
  8. Spain
  9. Estonia
  10. Ireland
  11. Latvia
  12. Greece
  13. United Kingdom
  14. Norway
  15. Italy
  16. Serbia
  17. Finland
  18. Portugal
  19. Armenia
  20. Cyprus
  21. Switzerland
  22. Slovenia
  23. Croatia
  24. Georgia
  25. France
  26. Austria

How is the running order decided?

The Eurovision running order is decided through a two-step process. First, the finalists randomly choose from a pot whether they would perform in the first half, the second half, or receive a producer’s choice — the new option that gives the organisers free rein over where an act is placed in the grand final.

Producers then arrange the acts considering two main criteria (1) creating an interesting show (aka, mixing up genres and the visual flow and feel of the show) and (2) practicalities (like how long it will take to construct and deconstruct various stage props).

Who drew what?

First Half Second Half Producer’s Choice
Greece Austria Latvia
Lithuania Norway Netherlands
Ireland Slovenia Israel
Luxembourg Finland Estonia
United Kingdom Cyprus Switzerland
Germany France Georgia
    Armenia
    Serbia
    Portugal
    Ukraine
    Croatia
    Spain
    Italy

Sweden was drawn to perform in 1st place

Does running order impact a country’s chances of victory?

It is generally considered favourable to perform from a later position in the running order. Several recent winners performed in the second half of the show, including Italy’s Måneskin (24th in 2021), Israel’s Netta (22nd in 2018) and Ukraine’s Jamala (21st in 2016).

But winning from an earlier position isn’t unheard of. Sweden’s Loreen (9th in 2023), Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra (12th), Portugal’s Salvador Sobral (11th) and the Netherlands’ Duncan Laurence (12th) all performed in the first half.

The only running order position to have never produced a winner is the second place draw, often considered “the death slot”. But remember — there’s a first time for everything!

What do you think of the Eurovision 2024 grand final running order? When does your favourite act perform. Let us know in the comments below.

Worst decision ever to let Israel be apart this year…

Hope to see Israel with 0 points from jurie! Cause from televote they will have 300+ points…

Love eurovision but it is starting to be a bit to much for me… maybe this will be the last one that i will watch sadly…but i really think i am done!

I hope you all having a great eurovision week cause this is supposed to be one of the best weeks all year around…but this year it isn’t!

Please vote for Italy, Croatia, Switzerland or Netherlands (hopefully everything is okay).
Otherwise, Eurovision 2024 will be remembered as the most Political Edition; never saw such a contest with full of debates and drama 🙁
Few hours ago, as Angelina Mango stated in the press room, we should talk about music. Yes, without EBU’s strange decisions; we can talk about music.

So let’s translate and understand what’s going on with that running order. Ukraine 2nd doesn’t make any sense they probably don’t want another Ukraine win. Netherlands at 5 might mean that they kinda flopped in the semi? Not dead last but 5-8.. Ireland and Greece got a pretty good place in semi and might have broke the votes that’s why they both got the best 1st half spots. Norway borderline qualifier, 14 bad bad spot. Slovenia between Switzerland and Croatia is so so bad. They basically killed Slovenia. Georgia after Croatia? Um France and Croatia for the win. France will win… Read more »

I don’t know how to feel about everything is being discussed rn, the leaks, the absence in the rehearsals, the EBU itself…. between all this let’s talk about the songs.

Running order thoughts:
-Sad for Ukraine, killed like 2022’s Czechia
-Lithuania before Spain, Estonia AND Ireland….damn…
-Weak closer song imo
-21-26 (imo) alternates three top-5 and two bottom-5 potential songs
-“The world has no borders, we’re all humans” and then israeli entry, well…

I think tomorrow really anything can happen. Nothing’s for sure as we could think couple weeks ago. I can see Italy doing it massively great on televote, as well as Croatia, Switzerland and Netherlands. But I think those 3 countries would struggle on getting the jury votes (mostly Netherlands). But Italy will get most of the jury votes. I can guess France will also get a huge stake of the jury votes (and maybe not many from public). Georgia won’t win, but surely will get their highest position ever, both from jury and televote. The surprise this year (for good… Read more »

Israel began their show with Eden pulsating while in d e e p back bend representing a beating heart within the sounds of the weather elements!! *AMAZING!!!!*

Eden touching her heart at the end of the performance – what a closure!!!

The white and blue and d e e p yellow encopassing Eden and the dancers, *AMAZING!*

So many thought-out elements encoded in that performance with lights and shadows and colours synchronised with the music and voice inflections and movements, wow, Israel put on an incredibly beautiful performance <3 <3 <3

What botched job the EBU has done! Israel should have been banned (full stop). EBU decided differently arguing that this is a non-political contest. Result: The contest is MORE POLITICAL than ever (where the songs are completely secondary). EBU is supposed to steer the ship – and what happened? A total shipwreck! I’m sick of the whole thing: Israel’s participation (following a ICJ verdict in the Hague, for god’s sake!), rigged running order (calling it producer’s choice), recorded backing vocals … some flags allowed … others not … Is this the beginning of the end?

The EBU did everything to avoid another Ukraine or a possible Israel win by putting them on early and by giving the other big favorites (Switzerland, Croatia, France) the perfect spot late in the running order. It’s a good running order and Austria is the perfect closing act.

I don’t usually care about the running order. A winning song should be able to win from any position. But putting Israel after Joost is criminal and dirty. A song of unity here is being followed by a country that is actively removing an ENTIRE population from the earth. This is so hard breaking.

I hope Joost doesn’t care about winning or placing high anymore, and gets disqualified by pulling out a stunt in support of Pstne.

This is exactly the problem for the integrity of the ESC. No professional musician would rank ‘Hurricane’ anywhere near ‘La Noia’ or ‘Teresa & Maria’. Supporting Israel in ESC 2024 is so obviously a political decision. I have a very, very bad feeling about what will happen if Israel get close to the top spot on Saturday. Dozens of countries could leave ESC in protest though they should have threatened to do that in November. Le mess.

This quote was said by Ovadia Josef, a rabbi leader of Israel whom Netanyahu called the moral compass of Israel and whose funeral was attended by 800,000 people:

Goyim were born only to serve us. Without that, they have no place in the world – only to serve the People of Israel,. Why are gentiles needed? They will work, they will plow, they will reap. We will sit like an effendi and eat. That is why gentiles were created.

When Europeans vote for Israel, this is what they are voting for.

It really isn’t about what you think. The space for your thoughts was in the Semi 1 thread. Here we’re talking about the objective fact that the EBU, who know which way the juries are likely voting and have access to other data, have put the UK in the best position in the first half of the show. The UK live performance is one of the most “Liked” live videos of the whole season by the way. They’re going to do well whether you like it or not.

Do we need to remind San Marino about of Senit and Valentina Monetta? maybe they need to take a little bit of responsibility for their choices.

I was so happy as I was sure Croatian would win, up until this morning when I saw the feedback on Israel. Unfortunately, the one that support Israel will vote for it, and that means it can take the win away from Croatia. The odds are not always right, but they always are right in showing the trend. It means that Israel pulled a Ukraine 2022 last night in the televote. I am not saying that they will reach 400+ points in the final. But, they will do so good, it will hurt Croatia which really need to win the… Read more »

There is no chance for Israel to win. There is no sympathy votes for them. You cannot compare Ukraine and Israel. Totally different situations.

You dont need the whole world on your side. Even if 20% believe and are on your side thats enough. It matters who pics up the phone ams votes, and Israel supporters are quite vocal.
Also, I am not saying they will win. I am saying they will gather enough televote points, forbidding Croatia to win, cuz we know juries wont rank them before acts like France, switzerland and so on. Thus a 2016, 2019 scenario is more likely than ever

Maybe some viewers liked the Israeli act. It’s a generic song, but there wasn’t much to choose from.

Wow, this running order is way different to what I had envisioned, bearing in mind that I didn’t see the qualifiers draw last night. I think Ukraine are going to be fine in the 2nd spot. Three big songs (Switzerland, Croatia, France) nearer the end is a veryyyy interesting choice, as is Norway being between us and Italy. Can’t wait to see how it all pans out.

If Israel won It would mean that there are more people Who support Israel and that those against It are fewer but noisier… What I do not understand is why those against Israel dont quit Eurovision this year in protest…Does not their commitment go that far? IS It, as usual, a just for show commitment??

Ukraine was yesterday in the top 4 among bookmakers and the organizers put them second… In the semi-finals they were also at the beginning.

Yeah and just to make sure people don’t misunderstand my thoughts: I’m not against Eden Golan neither I’m against israeli citizens. I wish them peace as much as I wish peace to P@lestinians. I’m against what israeli government and army are doing. And tbh I think most of people here think the same. People here don’t hate Israel, itherwise they wouldn’t have voted for the country as they did in the previous years. And I know it’s easy to say when you’re not directly involved in all of this but I’m pretty sure g?nocide is not the answer. I feel… Read more »

jury top 3 i predict

  1. France
  2. Latvia
  3. Croatia

televote top 3 i predict

  1. Croatia
  2. Estonia
  3. Ukraine

don’t think Israel will be bottom 5 or top 5 with juries, but just somewhere in the middle, and not doing that well with televoters due to other big televote hitters (Netherlands, Estonia, Lithuania, Croatia, Switzerland, Italy)

as for Germany, maybe decently avoiding bottom zone with juries, televote could be a disaster though but i don’t think Isaak will get double zero’d

Juryies have already been discretited last year for placing Finland so high and they will again if Croatia is even in the top 10.

I recall the discredit came from all juries giving high points to Loreen for reasons unrelated to musical merit

Who is we? Estonia?? Estonia is the kind of act that half Europe loves. It might not do that well with juries (not totally forgotten though) and will do extremely well with televote… Similar to Moldova 2022.

If Israel wins, I think some countries might even withdraw from the contest and they are right for doing so.
VOTE FOR ITALY AND CROATIA or Switzerland, otherwise some viewers don’t always take the correct decision and vote politically.

Why those countries didnt withdraw this year? It does not make sense. After Ukraine won, pro-russian countries like Serbija did not withdraw eitiher. Your assumption is based only on your emotions and bubble

participation is different thing; if this country’s song would be televote winner although it is not musically good song; it is once proven that this is Political contest
