Mei Finegold, the rock diva from Israel, will sing ‘Same heart’ at Eurovision 2014. The announcement came this evening following a week of SMS voting as part of Israel’s Kdam 2014. The video is simply amazing. The choreography, the music, the lyrics—it all shows a woman who has found independence amid all the anger. The transition from 0:55 to the Beyonce-esque dance moves at 1:00 is among the best things we have ever seen. Love.
The results have proven our readers right! Mei’s winning song won our Kdam 2014 poll in a landslide, earning 70% of all votes. “Be Proud”, which finished second with our readers, only earned 19%.
This year saw the removal of a jury from the decision process, meaning that the song was selected 100% by the public. Democracy at its finest!

I don’t know what fit the person who (originally) typed the lyrics had while typying “themfinity” for it is not a word. On the other hand, if you only listen closely to the song, you will notice she actually sings “Don’t need to be criticized”, which makes more sense. Israelis know their English, so despite the “skinning out” (which to me means something along the lines of “removing you out of me as part of my skin”… has anyone taken the trouble to see it that way?? Very poor. “Be Proud” was an amazing tune (I can’t believe it only got 5% of the vote) and I’ve not been able to get it out of my mind. I thought “Same Heart” was dire and the worst of the three. Horrible aggressive lyrics, what’s all that about skinning you out? Nasty.
Israel will stay in the semifinals again. With “Be Proud” they could have made Top 10.

Does not sound like a bad song but at the same time it’s not utterly impressive. It’s a blend of dance and rock all at once …what I dislike the most is her vocals here: something tells me this is not the type of genre that best suits the contralto vocals she has, plus, and this is worst part: AWFUL English lyrics. Hebrew is a stunning language … it would have sounded more honest and natural. I can’t speak for wiwiblogs, but my opinion is that wouldn’t be in the spirit of this site.
While I don’t envy the team having to manually remove spam, truth is they have to monitor human comments anyway, so it might not help. Robospam is actually easier to spot than other kinds of pollution.
And we, as readers, should be capable of ignoring what deserves to be ignored, human or otherwise.
It doesn’t look like they pitch-corrected the studio version (listen carefully in the first verse and near the end). If this is how she sings at Eurovision, she should do really well. Can she carry the stage all by herself? If she does sing alone and she sings well, this could be a Top 10 finish for Israel. I don’t know if top 5 but I would like to see this on top 10 at least; I’m just glad that lately the countries are coming up with better songs cause sincerely Ukraine, Albania and Belarus didn’t start the Eurovision with the right foot and there have been also some really dissapointing results from other countries (I’m looking at you Latvia)
I like her face & her voice. The song is so so for me…I liked Moran Mazor’s song more last year…although a bit depressing…

Not sure about this – Sounds like the kind of song that will have praise heaped upon it by OGAE voting and Eurovision fans, only to fall short of expectations at the contest. 15th-19th for Israel. Certainly a finalist though, congrats 🙂

This was my least favourite of the bunch, but I didn’t really like any of them. Israel is luckily in the easier semi-final and I’m 75% sure Mei will qualify, but this isn’t placing anywhere near the top.
